NPP Manipur Strongly Condemns Attack on Minister Loken Khuraijam

The National People's Party (NPP), Manipur State Unit, strongly condemns the attack on Shri Loken Khuraijam, Hon’ble Minister of Art & Culture and Tourism, at Wangoi Makha Leikai on October 25, 2026.

Political differences must never justify violence or intimidation. NPP Manipur appeals to the people to maintain peace, exercise restraint, and resolve differences through democratic dialogue.

The National People’s Party (NPP), Manipur State Unit, honours Mera Waa Yungba, a cherished cultural tradition symbolising unity, brotherhood and solidarity between the Meitei people of the valley and the indigenous hill communities of Manipur. It represents a shared heritage and a timeless message of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and togetherness for generations to come.

[Historical note: Though its exact year of origin remains uncertain, historical accounts trace the tradition to the reign of King Loiyumba (1074–1122 CE), reflecting Manipur’s long heritage of cultural exchange and solidarity.]

Under the leadership of National President Shri Conrad K Sangma, the National People's Party (NPP) has appointed National Working President and Rajya Sabha MP Shri James Sangma as Convener and National General Secretary (Political) Shri Mmhonlumo Kikon NPP as Co-convenor of the Manipur Political and Election Coordination Committee.

The committee will coordinate the party’s political, organisational and electoral affairs, with a focus on preparations for the forthcoming Manipur Assembly elections.

This initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening the organisation and advancing NPP’s electoral preparedness across Manipur.

NPP constitutes the National Disciplinary Action Committee.

In exercise of the powers under Article 26.3(i) of the Party Constitution, and in consultation with the National Committee, our National President Shri Conrad K. Sangma has constituted the National Disciplinary Action Committee, effective immediately.

Members:
• Shri James Sangma – Chairperson
• Shri Paknga Bage – Member
• Shri Mmhonlumo Kikon NPP – Member
• Shri Saidul Khan – Member
• Shri Philip Lam – Member

The Committee will uphold discipline within the Party strictly in accordance with the Constitution. This includes fair notice and a hearing for those concerned, and hearing appeals against decisions of State Disciplinary Committees.

The order will be placed before the next National Committee meeting for ratification.

Strengthening NPP’s Political and Electoral Preparedness in Manipur

NPWF and NPYF Manipur Visit Bereaved Families, Appeal for Resettlement of IDPs

The National People’s Women’s Front (NPWF) Manipur and the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) Manipur visited bereaved families to express their condolences and solidarity during this difficult time.

During the visit, NPWF Manipur Working President, Chandrakala Devi, appealed for the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), emphasising the urgent need for a safe, dignified, and sustainable return to normal life for those affected by the ongoing crisis in Manipur.

NPP Manipur stands in solidarity with the affected families and reiterates the importance of humanitarian support, peace, and lasting rehabilitation for all displaced persons.
