Capital Police Hosts Interaction-cum-Training Session for Law Students
An interaction-cum-training session was organised at Chimpu Police Station for 25 LL.B. students of Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College, with the objective of providing them practical exposure to policing, police station functioning, and the criminal justice system.
During the session, OC Chimpu P.S., Inspr. N. Nishant, briefed the students on the day-to-day responsibilities of a police station, powers and duties of police, functioning of the judicial system, role of advocates in justice delivery, and the importance of coordination among police, prosecution, courts, and other stakeholders for ensuring timely justice to the public.
He also highlighted the evolving role of Capital Police in community outreach, social development, and public welfare initiatives.
L/Inspr. Sunita Nabam, 2nd OC Chimpu P.S., sensitised the students on the growing drug menace, investigation of NDPS cases, and the zero-tolerance approach of Arunachal Pradesh Police against drug peddling and substance abuse.
An interactive question-and-answer session was also held, wherein the students discussed important policing issues including safeguards against custodial deaths, procedure for disposal of seized narcotic substances, and legal protections available to police personnel during law and order situations, including bandh-related violence and assaults on police.
Capital Police remains committed to strengthening public awareness, legal education, and police-public cooperation through such meaningful outreach initiatives.
