World Water Day was observed today with the theme “Water & Gender” at WTP, Rakap Colony, Naharlagun. The programme was organized by the PHE & WS Department in collaboration with Indian Building Congress, bringing together officials and stakeholders to mark the occasion.

The event was graced by Dr. Toli Basar, Chairman IBC, and Er. Nabam Takar, General Secretary IBC, while Er. Tok Tayum, SE Coordination, Itanagar Circle, attended as the resource person. The Executive Engineer, Naharlagun Division welcomed the participants. The programme focused on creating awareness on water conservation, sustainable management of water resources, and the importance of ensuring safe drinking water for all. AE, JEs, consultants, and staff members actively participated, emphasizing the collective responsibility to preserve water for future generations.

The WORLD WATER DAY - 2026 celebrated today as a part of by PHE & WS Division, Likabali, in valued partnership with the Department of Forest & supported by District Administration, by carrying out tree plantation drive in the catchment area of Gogar Water Source, which is the main water source of Likabali Township.
Despite the inclement weather, a committed team of around 50 members from both departments visited the catchment area. They planted around 400 tree saplings to help protect this important water source and ensure its long-term sustainability for the denizens of Likabali Township.
The PHE&WSD, Likabali extends special thanks to the Department of Forest, Likabali for their excellent collaboration, guidance, and support which made this effort possible and successful.
Gratitude to every participants who braved the inclement weather and participated with great enthusiasm. Together, these steps will help build a greener environment and more secure future for source sustainability.
