MP Tai Tagak, MLA Nabam Vivek takes part in SIR 2026 review activities in Papum Pare District.

Yupia, 24 August: Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and SIR 2026 Electoral Roll Observer for Papum Pare district, Shri Vivek H.P., IAS, reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 in the district during a meeting held at Yupia. The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tai Tagak, Shri Nabam Vivek, MLA, 14-Doimukh Assembly Constituency, and other stakeholders.

Emphasising the importance of transparency and public trust in the electoral process, Shri Vivek H.P. said that public confidence is fundamental to the credibility of elections, right from preparation of electoral rolls to the conduct of polling. He highlighted that SIR is distinct from routine Special Summary Revision, involving extensive door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and that the electoral roll remains accurate and credible.

He said the intensive exercise also aims to identify and remove ineligible entries in accordance with electoral laws and procedures. Lauding the BLOs for their commendable efforts, he urged all BLOs and BLAs to actively participate in the claims and objections hearing process to ensure timely redressal of discrepancies and avoid complications at later stages.

Also speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Tai Tagak stressed that the SIR exercise should remain non-political and free from political interference, with the process conducted solely in the interest of preparing a genuine and credible electoral roll. He emphasised the need for accurate and authentic data and proper verification of electoral entries, including ineligible entries, in accordance with the law. He said that the integrity of the electoral roll is important for safeguarding the democratic process and national interest.

Shri Nabam Vivek, MLA, 14-Doimukh Assembly Constituency, lauded the BLOs and officers and officials of the Election Department for undertaking the massive revision exercise. He said that the hard work put in by the entire election machinery should culminate in a comprehensive, accurate and error-free electoral roll.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Papum Pare, Ms. Mamu Hage, made a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on the progress and operational aspects of SIR 2026 in the district. She informed that 11 new polling stations have been added this year to strengthen electoral accessibility and infrastructure.

She further informed that the disposal of claims and objections will continue until 18 September 2026, and urged members of the public having any claims, objections or grievances regarding the electoral roll to approach the respective offices of the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for redressal within the stipulated period. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on 22 September 2026.

ERO, 13-Itanagar Assembly Constituency, Smt. Dani Rikang, also briefed the meeting on the activities undertaken so far under SIR 2026, including training programmes, pre-inauguration activities, public outreach, tabletop simulation exercises, establishment of special booths and the public grievance redressal mechanism.

The meeting was attended by the EROs of 13-Itanagar, 14-Doimukh and 15-Sagalee Assembly Constituencies, representatives of political parties, elected Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), and officers and officials of the Election Department.
