On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2024), a Safai Abhiyan was conducted by the officers and staff of the Director, Environment & Climate Change, focusing on the theme "Swaachhta Hi Seva." This initiative brought together a diverse group of participants dedicated to promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness at various locations.
Sanglo Putung and Biological Park Enclosures: The EIACP team took the lead in this area, collaborating closely with local villagers and forest officials. Together, they worked to clean and maintain the enclosures, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural habitats and fostering community involvement in environmental initiatives.
Ganga Lake Premises: The State Climate Change Cell spearheaded activities under the NMSHE program, engaging with the Deputy Chief Wildlife Warden and his staff. This effort aimed to enhance the cleanliness and ecological health of the Ganga Lake area, promoting awareness
The cleanliness initiative was expertly coordinated by Sh. Dohu Robin, Director Environment, Mrs Joram Reshma, Sh Punyo Tanya and Sh. Tarh Robin. They were supported by a dedicated team, including Dr. Laxmi Linggi, Sh. Rinchin Tsering Gonpapa, Ms. Dani Yaming, and Dohu Tapuk from the Climate Cell. Their focus on wetland areas highlighted the importance of preserving these vital ecosystems for both wildlife and community well-being.
In the Biological Park area and along the approach road, the cleanliness drive was bolstered by the efforts of Dr. Anjan Chamuah, Sh. Tanu Siram, Sh. Vishak, and Sh. Ani Dai from the EIACP team. Their commitment ensured that these public spaces were not only cleaned but also maintained in a way that supports ongoing ecological health.
The drive culminated in a collaborative gathering at Ganga Lake, where both teams came together to celebrate their efforts. The event was graced by the presence of PCCF (WL&BD) Sh. Ngilyang Tam, IFS, who acknowledged the hard work of all participants and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
This collective effort reflects the commitment of various stakeholders to uphold the values of cleanliness and environmental stewardship, inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
