MP State Legal Services Authority Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority has been constituted under The Legal Services Authority Act, 1987.

The Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 has been enacted to achieve the objectives of equal justice and free legal aid as enshrined in Article 39-A of the Constitution of India. Under the said Act, 1987 Legal Services Authorities provide Free & Competent Legal Services to the weaker section of society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of econo

mic or other disabilities and organize Lok-Adalats to secure the operation of legal system and promote Mediation and other activities. The Court based Legal Services are also provided which include activities such as representation before Court, Legal Aid and Advice and drafting of legal documents etc. Section-12 of Legal Services Act, 1987 provides certain categories of people who are eligible to get free legal aid & assistance. In that pursuant Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority has been constituted. The authority strives to ensure that constitutional pledge is fulfilled in its letter & spirit and equal justice is made available to the poor, downtrodden and marginalized section of society.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Shri Justice Vivek Rusia, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh & Patron-in-Chief, Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur organized a Free Eye Screening and Legal Awareness Camp on 18 July 2026 at the Government Observation Home and Government Children's Home, Gokalpur.

A total of 49 children underwent free eye screening, during which vision-related ailments were identified in several children requiring further medical care. Arrangements were made to provide free treatment and follow-up ophthalmic services to the identified beneficiaries.

A legal awareness session was also conducted to educate the children about their legal rights, free legal aid, the NALSA (Child-Friendly Legal Services for Children) Scheme, 2024, and the Legal Aid Helpline (15100). The programme reflected the commitment of the Legal Services Institutions towards ensuring the health, welfare, and holistic development of children residing in child care institutions through integrated legal and healthcare initiatives.

On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June 2026), District Legal Services Authorities across Madhya Pradesh organized awareness camps in jails and other institutions under the NALSA (Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015 and the NALSA (Legal Services to the Victims of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace) Scheme, 2015.

Judicial Officers, advocates, officials of Legal Services Institutions, Para Legal Volunteers, and other stakeholders participated in the programmes, spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse, prevention of human trafficking, legal rights, rehabilitation, and the availability of legal services for vulnerable sections of society.

The Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and Dharmashastra National Law University , Jabalpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 22 June 2026 and launched a three-month Certificate Course titled โ€œMediation: Transforming Conflict into Consensusโ€.

The programme was inaugurated by Honโ€™ble Shri Justice Vivek Rusia, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh, in the august presence of Honโ€™ble Shri Justice Anand Pathak and Honโ€™ble Shri Justice Vivek Agarwal, Judges, High Court of Madhya Pradesh.

The course, recognized by the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India, aims to develop a skilled cadre of mediators through a blend of theoretical learning, practical training, and field exposure. The initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening mediation, promoting amicable dispute resolution, and enhancing access to justice across Madhya Pradesh.

Simultaneously, Honโ€™ble Shri Justice G.S. Ahluwalia at Gwalior and Honโ€™ble Shri Justice Subodh Abhyankar at Indore participated in similar programmes at their respective Central Jails.

Addressing the inmates, Honโ€™ble the Acting Chief Justice emphasized that yoga is a way of life that fosters discipline, emotional well-being, and inner strength, playing a vital role in rehabilitation and positive transformation. The week-long campaign, organized across prisons in Madhya Pradesh, also features a specially designed sign language-based yoga module for hearing and speech-impaired inmates, reaffirming MPSLSA's commitment to inclusive and holistic access to well-being and justice.

During the conference titled โ€œFragmentation to Fusion: Empowering Justice through Unified Digital Platform Integrationโ€ organized by the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on 16 May 2026 in the gracious presence of Honโ€™ble Shri Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India, โ€œSanket Vaani โ€“ Where Silence Meets Justiceโ€ was launched and โ€œSanket Samvad Madhyasthata Kendraโ€ was e-inaugurated.

Model Community Mediation Centres established in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur, including the centre at Kachhpura, were also e-inaugurated. These initiatives, supported by the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, aim to strengthen access to justice for persons with hearing and speech impairments and promote community-based dispute resolution mechanisms at the grassroots level.
