Ten days after “Conjectures on a Paper Sky” concluded at Bikaner House, we return with a filmed conversation and walkthrough featuring Jitish Kallat alongside curator Alexandra Munroe.

Moving through the exhibition, they reflect on questions that shaped the project: orientation and measurement, the shifting of scale from microscopic to macroscopic and terrestrial to celestial, and an interconnected hall of mirrors where wind, light, law, declassified Cold War histories, and human behavior converge.

A longer film revisiting the exhibition in full will follow soon.

We’re pleased to share that the publication Integer Study (Drawing from Life) will be launched during the preview of “Conjectures on a Paper Sky”, a solo exhibition by Jitish Kallat and curated by Alexandra Munroe.

Published by Hatje Cantz, the book brings together 365 daily drawings made over a year, tracing time through self-imposed studio rituals shaped by natural phenomena. Released with the exhibition opening, it returns this sustained practice to an intimate, handheld form.

Alongside major presentations of Kallat’s work, Integer Study appears as both a publication and a work on view, extending the exhibition through a parallel, intimate format.

We look forward to welcoming you to the preview on 4 February, from 1–4 pm, to encounter the publication in conversation with the exhibition and spend time with the work as it unfolds.

As works come together in the studio, Conjectures on a Paper Sky begins to take form. Bringing new works into dialogue with recent and ongoing bodies of work, the exhibition represents a major presentation following Here After Here, a mid-career survey at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi (2017–18).

Curated by Alexandra Munroe, the exhibition explores questions of time and scale through intersecting perspectives in which political history, scientific inquiry, and cosmic imagination converge.
