Hon'ble Minister Reviews Rural Development Initiatives Across Jammu Division
Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar, chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Directorate of Rural Development, Jammu, to assess the implementation of key rural development programmes across all ten districts of the Jammu Division.
During the meeting, Director, Rural Development Department, Jammu, Shahnaz Akhter, JKAS, briefed the Minister on the physical, financial and administrative progress achieved under flagship schemes including MGNREGA/VB-GRAMG, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G), UT Capex, District CAPEX,Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). The Minister was also apprised of the status of employment generation, rural infrastructure development, housing, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and other community development initiatives being implemented across the division.
The Minister was informed that significant progress has been achieved under MGNREGA/VB-GRAMG through large-scale employment generation and the creation of durable rural assets.
Reviewing the progress under PMAY-G, the Minister expressed satisfaction over the substantial advancement in the construction of rural houses and directed officers to ensure the timely completion of all remaining eligible houses. He stressed the need for regular monitoring to ensure that deserving beneficiaries receive housing assistance without delay.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of infrastructure development under UT Capex, including the creation of community assets, strengthening of Panchayat infrastructure, and the construction of District Development Council (DDC) and Block Development Council (BDC) office buildings. The Minister directed officers to expedite pending works by addressing procedural bottlenecks while maintaining high standards of quality.
Emphasising transparency, accountability and timely implementation, the Minister instructed officers to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, enhance inter-departmental coordination, and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every eligible rural household. He reiterated the Government's commitment to accelerating rural development, strengthening grassroots institutions, and improving the quality of life in rural areas across the Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by the Joint Director, Rural Development Department, Jammu, Superintending Engineer, REW Jammu, Assistant Commissioners Development ,Assistant Commissioners Panchayats ,Executive Engineers (XENs), and other officers of the Directorate of Rural Development, Jammu.
