Subject: Strict Action by Traffic Police Jammu City Against Illegal Use of Private Vans for School Transportation
Under the supervision and guidance of IGP Traffic Sh.Sujit Kumar IPS, and DIG Traffic Haseeb Moghal, SSP Traffic Jammu Sh.Amit Bhasin JKPS, ASP Traffic Jammu Sh.Arvinder Kotwal JKPS, Traffic City Jammu and Traffic South Jammu has taken serious cognizance of the increasing instances where private vans are being illegally used for transporting school children without proper authorization and in violation of prescribed safety norms.
It has been observed that many such vehicles are operating without valid permits, and drivers without mandatory PSV (Public Service Vehicle) badges or certificates from RTO office.These violations pose a significant threat to the safety and security of school-going children.
Moreover, it has come to notice that certain school authorities are allowing or indirectly engaging such unauthorized vehicles while failing to take responsibility for the safety of the children being transported. This negligence is unacceptable and contrary to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and established guidelines for school transport.
The Traffic Police reiterates that only authorized vehicles, duly registered as transport vehicles, driven by licensed drivers holding PSV badges, and complying with all safety norms, are permitted to be used for school transportation.
In view of the above, a strict enforcement drive is launched against such violators in both North, Rural and South jurisdiction of Jammu City. Legal action has been taken against vehicle operators. Total of 27 Vehicles has been seized under this ongoing special drive.
Parents are also advised to ensure that their children commute only through authorized and safe transport facilities.
The general public and school managements are urged to cooperate with the Traffic Police in ensuring the safety of children and adherence to traffic regulations.
