Sopore Police Apprehends Two Drug Peddlers; Contraband Substance Recovered
Sopore, September 01, 2026:
Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended two drug peddlers during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Post Warpora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
During naka checking at Sangri Top, Watlab, two suspicious individuals were intercepted. During their personal search, contraband substance was recovered and seized in accordance with due legal procedure.
The accused have been identified as Asif Ahmad Mir S/O Sanaullah Mir R/O Sangri Watlab and Shahbaz Ahmad Lone S/O Ghulam Nabi Lone R/O Watlab, Sopore.
Accordingly, FIR No. 215/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to sustained action against drug peddlers to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
