Jammu (Rural) Police Foils Two Bovine Smuggling Attempts; 07 Bovines Rescued in Separate Operations at Nagrota

Continuing its sustained drive against bovine smuggling under “Operation Kamdhenu,” Jammu (Rural) Police achieved significant success by foiling two separate bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota and rescuing a total of 07 bovine animals.

In the first operation conducted during routine naka checking at Ban Toll Plaza, a police team of Police Station Nagrota intercepted a Mahindra Load Carrier bearing registration No. JK02DQ-1171. Upon checking, the vehicle was found carrying 03 bovine animals which were being transported illegally. The bovines were rescued on the spot and shifted safely. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence was seized and the driver was arrested.

In another operation, acting on specific information and during routine checking, a police team intercepted an attempt to transport bovines illegally. On noticing the police presence, the driver fled from the spot, abandoning the animals.

During the operation, 04 cows were rescued and shifted to a safer location for proper care and protection Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the absconding accused.

In this regard, FIR No. 143/2026 and FIR No. 144/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA Act) have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation into both cases is underway.

Jammu (Rural) Police organised a Thana Diwas-cum-Drug Awareness Camp at Village Golpattan, Gajansoo, P/S Kana Chak.

The programme was attended by Ravinder Singh SP Rural Jammu alongwith SDPO Domana , SHO Kana Chak , I/C BPP Gajansoo, I/C BPP Kirpalpur alongwith other police officials. The Hon'ble MLA Marh Shri Surinder Bhagat also graced the ocassion. The local Sarpanches, prominent citizens and a large number of residents graced the ocassion. The event was organised under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to promote a healthy and drug-free society. through community participation.

During the interaction, participants raised various public issues and concerns, which were patiently heard by the officers. The police assured timely redressal of genuine grievances and emphasized community policing, public participation and vigilance against anti-social activities. Citizens were urged to report suspicious activities and cooperate in maintaining peace and public safety.

Special emphasis was laid on the eradication of drug abuse. Participants, particularly the youth, were sensitised about the harmful physical, psychological, social and economic consequences of drug addiction and were encouraged to support police efforts by sharing information regarding drug peddlers and traffickers.

The gathering was also sensitised about the role of parents, educational institutions, community leaders and civil society in preventing substance abuse and safeguarding the younger generation. Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against drug peddlers while promoting awareness, counselling and rehabilitation measures.

The officers directed further intensification of night patrolling, naka checking, beat policing and prompt disposal of public grievances. A Nukkad Natak on drug abuse awareness was presented by BSF personnel, spreading the message of a drug-free society.

The programme concluded with an interactive session and a collective pledge by police officers, public representatives and local residents to work together for a peaceful, safe and drug-free environment.

SSP Jammu Chairs Crime Review Meeting at DPL Jammu

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Shri Joginder Singh, today chaired a comprehensive Crime Review Meeting at District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, to assess the prevailing crime scenario and review the performance of various police units across the district.

The meeting was attended by all Zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), and Incharge Police Posts/ Border Police Posts of District Jammu.

During the meeting, SSP Jammu undertook a detailed review of crime-related matters, law and order issues, investigation of pending cases, ex*****on of warrants, preventive actions, and measures being taken against drug trafficking, organized crime, and other unlawful activities. Officers were directed to ensure timely investigation and disposal of cases while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.

Emphasizing the importance of effective policing, SSP Jammu exhorted all officers to work with passion, dedication, and commitment towards public service. He stressed the need for proactive policing, enhanced public outreach, and prompt response to grievances of citizens.

As part of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society, District Police Jammu today organized a Drug Awareness Programme in the Purani Mandi and Parade areas of Old City Jammu.

The programme was conducted under the ongoing anti-drug campaign of Jammu Police and witnessed the participation of senior police officers, students, teachers, community leaders, and members of the general public. Among others, SSP Jammu Shri Joginder Singh, SP City North, SDPO City North, and other officers of District Police Jammu were present on the occasion.

The primary objective of the programme was to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the harmful effects of drug addiction and to encourage collective action against the growing threat of substance abuse. During the awareness session, resource persons and police officers highlighted the severe physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, today addressed the Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) of the 2024 batch during an interaction session held at District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu.

While addressing the young officers, the IGP emphasized the importance of upholding the values of honesty, integrity, professionalism, and public service. He motivated the PSIs to remain true to the oath they have taken as police officers and to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, commitment, and sincerity.

Drug Awareness Programme at GGHSS Arnia; SHO Arnia conducts awareness drive

As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Police Station Arnia, in collaboration with Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Arnia, organized an awareness programme aimed at educating students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society.

DySP Prob Mr. Qaesar, SHO Arnia sensitized students about the growing menace of narcotic substances, the dangers of addiction, and the long-term social, psychological, and health consequences associated with substance abuse. The speakers emphasized the vital role of youth in combating the drug menace and encouraged students to make informed and responsible life choices.

The participants were advised to remain vigilant and to promptly share information with the Police regarding any suspicious activities, drug peddling, or substance abuse in their localities. Students were encouraged to act as responsible citizens and actively contribute towards the collective efforts of eliminating drugs from society.

A special session was also conducted on the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) and Dial 112, during which students were briefed about the various emergency services available through the platform. They were informed about the procedure for seeking assistance during emergencies and were encouraged to effectively utilize the emergency response system whenever required.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Shri Joginder Singh, today briefed the media regarding the remarkable progress achieved by District Police Jammu during the first 50 days of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan.

Reaffirming Jammu Police's zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and drug trafficking, the SSP stated that a comprehensive strategy combining enforcement, intelligence gathering, community participation, and legal action has yielded significant results in curbing the drug menace across the district.

During the first 50 days of the campaign, 176 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered across District Jammu. As part of the intensified crackdown, Jammu Police has seized:

- He**in (Chitta): 5 Kg 533 grams, valued at approximately ₹16.60 crore
- Poppy Straw: 3 Kg 250 grams, valued at approximately ₹87,000
- G***a: 29 Kg 267 grams, valued at approximately ₹8.78 lakh
- O***m: 1 Kg, valued at approximately ₹27,000

The SSP informed that 202 accused persons have been arrested/detained under the NDPS Act, while one notorious drug offender has been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act, demonstrating the department's resolve to target habitual offenders and dismantle drug networks.

As part of the financial investigation and asset-tracing strategy against narcotics traffickers, Jammu Police has taken substantial action against illegally acquired assets. During the campaign:

- 37 vehicles linked to drug-related activities have been seized.
- 123.290 grams of gold, valued at approximately ₹13.70 lakh, has been frozen.
- 26 bank accounts have been frozen, involving transactions amounting to approximately ₹18 lakh.
- Properties worth ₹5.19 crore have been attached in eight cases, including three movable and five immovable properties.
- ⁠22 Properties belonging to known offenders demolished with distt administration

In addition, stringent administrative action has been initiated against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking:

- 27 Driving Licences have been cancelled.
- 143 Registration Certificates (RCs) of vehicles have been cancelled.

Continuing its offensive against the infrastructure used by drug traffickers, Jammu Police has also demolished 22 illegal structures, including 11 pucca houses and 11 khullas, which were being used for facilitating narcotics-related activities.

Addressing the media, SSP Jammu Shri Joginder Singh stated that the fight against drugs is not merely a law enforcement challenge but a social responsibility requiring collective action from all stakeholders. He appreciated the support and cooperation extended by the public, civil society members, educational institutions, and youth in making the campaign successful.

He urged citizens to continue sharing information regarding drug peddling and narcotics-related activities with the police and assured that every credible input would be acted upon promptly and professionally.

The SSP reiterated that District Police Jammu remains fully committed to the vision of a Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir and will continue its relentless campaign against narcotics with unwavering determination under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan.

Jammu (Rural) Police Continues Anti-Drug Drive; One Person Held with He**in-Like Substance.

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan, Jammu (Rural) Police achieved another success by apprehending one person involved in drug peddling activities in the jurisdiction of Police Station Akhnoor.

A police party of Police Station Akhnoor while conducting naka checking at Khuga noticed a suspicious person riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02DT-7336. On seeing the police party, the suspect attempted to flee from the spot.

Acting swiftly, the police team chased and apprehended the accused. During his search, 5.35 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.

The accused was identified as:

Ved Prakash @ Sucha S/O Puran Chand R/O Daskal, Akhnoor.

Accordingly, FIR No. 129/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation is underway.
