DC Minga Sherpa, alongside MLA Jammu (N), Sham Lal Sharma, evaluated the impact of the heavy rains of October 11. In a meeting today, senior officers of PWD, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, PMGSY and Irrigation & Flood Control departments presented damage assessments and ongoing restoration progress.

The DC emphasised long-term solutions, prioritised the desilting of nallahs and called for robust readiness to safeguard public safety during future weather emergencies.

He later chaired a meeting prioritising immediate pothole repairs, enhanced safety around flyover projects and better road drainage-levelling to prevent further damage.

Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa today visited the shrine of Baba Jitto at Jhiri and reviewed preparations for Jhiri Mela.

Accompanied by MLA Marh Surinder Kumar and senior officers, he reviewed issues and requirements for successful conduct of one of the largest melas in North India.

Directions were issued regarding sanitation, bush clearance, road repairs, lighting, site demarcation and overall planning.

DC Minga Sherpa chaired a series of meetings at the district headquarters, stressing integrity, punctuality and inter-departmental coordination as the cornerstones of efficient public service delivery.

He called for close coordination among DC Office staff to help Jammu figure among the top-performing districts, and asked district and sectoral officers to ensure time-bound delivery of scheme benefits, seeking immediate reports for further streamlining.

Reviewing the Rural Development Department, the DC directed officers to ensure on-grid power, all-weather road, 4G mobile and DTH television connectivity in border villages under Vibrant Villages Programme-II, besides targeted delivery in rural healthcare, employment and banking.

He also reviewed the digitisation and updation of land records, AgriStack and other matters with the Revenue Department, asking officers to work with professionalism, sincerity and dedication for hassle-free public services.

As per the instructions of the ECI, the office of District Election Officer Jammu has started a proactive campaign to ensure that no eligible elector is left out of the electoral rolls.

Special camps are being held at 1,499 booths in the district for this purpose.

If any person has any complaint, they may contact any of the 1,499 BLOs, 25 AEROs or 11 EROs.

We are committed to ensuring that no eligible voter is excluded from the voter list.
