Think about itโhow much of your salary do you spend on food? Is it 10%? Maybe even less?
As per axio, I personally spend under 5% of my monthly income on food.
But this isn't the case with our fellow Indians. Until recently, a significant part of the Indian population spent more than half of their earnings just to put food on the table.
๐ฝ๏ธ Itโs incredible to realize how fortunate we are todayโ the most essential part of human life, food, costs a fraction of our expenditure, which is not the case with other Indians.
๐ Fortunately, according to a recent report by the to the , households spend less than half their monthly budget on food for the first time. Even among the poorest 20%, there has been a noticeable shift in how money is spent. Reasons:
๐ The share of spending on cereals has plummeted, allowing families to diversify their diets. This means more money is now being spent on milk, fruits, eggs, fish, and meatโreflecting a positive change in dietary habits, even among the poorest sections of society.
Better infrastructure, transport, and storage have made fresh, nutritious foods more accessible, a clear sign of inclusive growth over the past decade.
