Hindustan Copper Limited inaugurates country's first facility to produce nickel
State run premier producer of copper, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has introduced India’s first facility to produce nickel. Nickel is a very crucial metal for which India is completely dependent on imports.
The new arm is named ‘Nickel, Copper, and Acid Recovery Plant’. It is situated at the HCL's Indian Copper Complex (ICC) at Ghatshila in Jharkhand state.
At the beginning, the efficiency of the unit was firmed at 50 tonnes on a yearly basis and Annual demand for pure nickel in India is approximately 45,000 tonne and its domestic market is solely dependent on imports.
