An awareness-cum-training programme under the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” was successfully organized by KVK West Jaintia Hills in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region and with the support of ATMA at Sabahmuswang Village, West Jaintia Hills. The programme aimed to promote sustainable farming practices by encouraging the use of organic inputs and minimizing the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
During the technical session, Dr H. Talang, Senior Scientist, ICAR, delivered a lecture on the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Tuber Crops, highlighting improved production technologies and their significance for the region. Dr B. Makdoh, Senior Scientist, ICAR, spoke on the principles and benefits of Natural Farming, emphasizing eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural practices.
The programme also included a practical demonstration and hands-on training on Azolla cultivation, enabling farmers and SHG members to learn its cultivation and utilization.The programme concluded with a scientist-farmer interactive session and input distribution.
