શ્રી મંડલીકપુર પ્રાથમિક શાળા જુનાગઢ જીલ્લા ની જુનામા જુની શાળાઑ માની ઍક છે. બીજી ફેબ્રુઆરી 1923 માં બીલખા પાસેના એક નાનકડા ગામડામાં સ્થપાએલી આ શાળાએ દાયકાઓથી આ ગામને પ્રાથમિક શિક્ષણ પૂરું પડ્યું છે, જેના પરિણામ સ્વરૂપ, 1366 ની વસ્તી ધરાવતા આ ગામની શાક્ષરતા 76% (82% પુરુષ અને 70% સ્ત્રી) છે. હાલ, આ શાળામાં પાંચ પૂર્ણકાલીન શિક્ષકો ગામડાના બાળકોને શિક્ષણ આપી રહ્યા છે. આ ઉપરાંત, રાજ્ય સરકાર દ્વારા પ્ર

ૌઢ શિક્ષણ માટે બે પ્રેરક બહેનોની નિમણુક કરવામાં આવી છે. શાળામાં દ્રશ્ય-શ્રાવ્ય માધ્યમથી ઉત્કૃષ્ઠ શિક્ષણ આપવા માટે 14 કોમ્પુટર અને 42” ના એક LCD TV નો ભરપુર ઉપયોગ કરવામાં આવે છે.

થોડા વર્ષો પૂર્વે સુધી, શાળાની પરિસ્થિતિ આટલી સાનુકુળ નહોતી. શાળામાં 100 વિદ્યાર્થી દીઠ ફક્ત એક જ શિક્ષક ફરજ બજાવતા હતા. બે વર્ષ પહેલા જ, બે અનુભવી અને કર્મઠ શિક્ષકો શાળામાં બદલી કરાવી હાજર થયા. તદુપરાંત, રાજ્ય સરકાર દ્વારા 2011 ના સપ્ટેમ્બર માસમાં બીજા બે શિક્ષકોની વિદ્યા-સહાયક તરીકે ભરતી કરવામાં આવી. શિક્ષકોની સર્જનાત્મક પ્રવૃત્તિઓ અને સહિયારા પ્રયાશો દ્વારા મોટા ભાગની સરકારી શાળાઓમાં ન જોવા મળતું શૈક્ષણિક સ્તર શ્રી મંડલીકપુર પ્રાથમિક શાળાએ પ્રાપ્ત કરેલ છે. તદુપરાંત, ખાનગી શાળાઓમાં અભ્યાસ કરતા બાળકોના વાલીઓ સાથે સંવાદ અને વિચાર-વિમર્શ કરી તેમના બાળકોને ગામની સરકારી શાળામાં દાખલ કરાવવામાં આ શાળાને અનેરી સફળતા મળી છે. જેના પરિણામ સ્વરૂપ, શ્રી મંડલીકપુર પ્રાથમિક શાળા ગુજરાત રાજ્યની એવી જુજ શાળાઓ પૈકીની એક બની ગઈ છે જ્યાં બાળકો ખાનગી શાળા છોડીને સરકારી શાળામાં પ્રવેશ મેળવી રહ્યા છે.

ગરવા ગીરનારની ભાગોળે વસેલું મંડલીકપુર શાંત પ્રાકૃતિક સૌન્દર્ય અને મનોહર વાતાવરણ નો ઉત્તમ નમુનો છે. મંડલીકપુર જુનાગઢથી 25 કિમી દુર અને બીલખાથી ફક્ત 5 કિમી ના અંતરે આવેલું છે. જુનાગઢ થી બીલખા માટે નિયમિત બસ અને ટ્રેન મળે છે. બીલખા થી મંડલીકપુર માટે દિવસ દરમ્યાન બે બસ મળે છે; જોકે રોજ નોકરી-ધંધા માટે આવાગમન કરતા લોકો માટે રીક્ષા - છકડો રીક્ષા દર કલાકે મળે છે. THE SCHOOL:

Sri Mandalikpur Government Primary School is one of the oldest Government Schools of Junagadh district. Established on 2nd February, 1923 in Mandalikpur, a small village near Bilakha, the school has catered the need of primary education of several generations of the village. As a result, the village, with the population of 1366, has 76% of literacy (82% male & 70% female). At present, five fulltime teachers are imparting education to the students of the village. Two promoters are also appointed by the state Government for Adult Education. In all there are fourteen computers and a 42” LCD Television for facilitating education and offering a rich teaching – learning experience. THE WILL-AGE:

The picture was not so rosy just before few years. There were only one or two teachers as against 100+ students. Just before a year two senior teachers got transferred at the village. The state government appointed two more teachers as Vidhyasahayak this year in September. With innovative activities and collaborative efforts standard of students has improved unlike most other government schools. Moreover, the parents of the students were counseled for shifting their children to the government school at the village. As a result, Mandlikpur has become one of the few government schools of Gujarat that has succeeded in bringing back students from private schools to the government ones. THE WAY:

Situated on the glade of the forest beside the Mount Girnar, Mandalikpur has natural and peaceful surrounding. It is 25km from Junagadh, and only 5km from Bilakha, a small town 20km from Junagadh. There are regular buses and trains available from Junagadh to Bilakha. Nevertheless, there are only two buses commuting daily to the village. However, from Bilakha one can hire an auto-rickshaw for Mandalikpur which are shuttling to and fro on regular basis for commuters.
