District Magistrate, Kalimpong, Smt Kuhuk Bhushan, IAS and Superintendent of Police, Kalimpong, Smt Aparajita Rai, IPS, along with officers from concerned departments, visited retail shops in the market at Main Road, Kalimpong to review the status of market prices of essential commodities. They had interaction with the retailers and the consumers about the reasons and effects of the rise in the prices of essential commodities and to review the necessary measures. The inspection was a part of the administrative measures to control the rise of prices of essential commodities.

80th Independence Day celebrated by Kalimpong District Administration through paying tribute to the freedom fighters, hoisting of National Flags at various government institutions and patriotic cultural programmes organised at the premises of District Collectorate, Kalimpong. Block Development Offices and Gram Panchayats also organised various programmes throughout Kalimpong to celebrate the occasion.

Kanya Ratna Diwas Celebration 2026 & Launch of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign:

Kanya Ratna Diwas 2026 was celebrated at the Treasury Conference Hall, Kalimpong, along with the launch of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and the pledge-taking ceremony.

The programme was held in presence of District Magistrate, Kalimpong, Hon'ble Member of Legislative of Assembly, Kalimpong, Additional District Magistrate (General), district officials, teachers and students.

The occasion highlighted the importance of protecting, educating and empowering the girl child and reaffirmed the collective commitment towards creating a safe, equal and supportive environment for every girl.
The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao pledge was administered to the participants, who collectively pledged to promote the rights, education, dignity and empowerment of girls and to work towards eliminating discrimination against the girl child.
The celebration served as a meaningful reminder that every girl is a precious asset to society and deserves equal opportunities to learn, grow and realise her full potential.

Government buildings equipped with tricolours of the glorious Tiranga. Paying tribute to the national Integrity from earth to air with creation of tricolour Rongolis and singing National Song observing 150th year of the song "Bande Mataram". Various events like Quiz Contest, Drawing and Essay Competitions, Tiranga rallies, etc. are being organised from Block to District level and in various educational institutions.
