Celebrating Skills, Creating Futures | District-Level Rojgar Mela 2026, Kalimpong
In a significant step towards promoting skill development and employment, the District-Level Rojgar Mela 2026 was successfully organised at the Treasury Conference Hall, Office of the District Magistrate, Kalimpong, in synchronization with the State-Level Rojgar Mela 2026, under the Department of Technical Education, Training & Skill Development, Government of West Bengal.
The programme was graced by the presence of the District Magistrate, Kalimpong; Additional District Magistrate (Skills), Kalimpong; Additional District Magistrate (Development), Kalimpong; Sub-Divisional Officer, Kalimpong; Shri Songden Lepcha, Representative of the Hon'ble MLA, 22-Kalimpong Assembly Constituency; PO-cum-DWO, Kalimpong; District SHG & Self-Employment Officer, Kalimpong; DPRDO, Kalimpong; Special LAO, Kalimpong; NDC, Kalimpong; District Nodal Officer, PBSSD (Skills), Kalimpong; DMDCs, Kalimpong; Joint Director of Employment, Kalimpong; General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Kalimpong; DICO, Kalimpong; Principal, Government ITI, Kalimpong; Representative of Government Polytechnic College, Kalimpong; senior officials from various district line departments, other government officials, Training Partners, trainers, and trainees.
The highlight of the programme was the felicitation of 17 trained and successfully placed candidates, who were honoured by the District Administration in recognition of their achievements through the skill development initiatives of the Department of Technical Education, Training & Skill Development, Government of West Bengal, implemented through PBSSD, Government ITI, and Government Polytechnic.
Addressing the gathering, the District Magistrate, Kalimpong, congratulated the candidates and emphasized the transformative role of skill development in creating sustainable livelihoods and empowering the youth through gainful employment.
The dignitaries also appreciated the consistent efforts of the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD), Government ITI, Government Polytechnic, and their training partners in delivering industry-relevant skill training and facilitating employment opportunities for the youth of Kalimpong.
The event served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of skilled youth while reaffirming the Government of West Bengal's commitment to enhancing employability, strengthening industry partnerships, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through quality skill development initiatives.
The District Administration, Kalimpong, reiterated its commitment to expanding access to skill training and employment opportunities, ensuring that more young people across the district benefit from government-sponsored skill development programmes and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Kalimpong.

A productive meeting was held at Gorubathan in presence of BDO Gorubathan, The District Nodal Officer Pbssd (Kalimpong),District Project Manager Pbssd (Kalimpong) and Block Level Staff Pbssd, with the representatives of the tea gardens to discuss the upcoming training program.
The discussion focused on implementation modalities of skill development, strengthening collaboration, and planning effective training initiatives to enhance workforce development and employment opportunities.
Together, we are working towards building a skilled workforce and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through our training programs.

District Nodal Officer (Kalimpong) along with District Project Manager (Kalimpong) visited Utkarsh Bangla Training Centre, Riverside Management Institution, Jaldhak. To inspect the ongoing training course (FOOD & BEVERAGE OPERATIONS - WAITER,V2) and interact with the trainees. The visit included a review of the training facilities, classroom environment, attendance, and overall training quality.
An engaging interaction with the trainees provided valuable insights into their learning experience and reinforced our commitment to delivering quality skill development. The Training Center was found to be functioning satisfactorily and in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

The Additional District Magistrate (Skills), Kalimpong, along with the District Nodal Officer (DNO), visited the Learnet Skills Limited Training Centre under Utkarsh Bangla (PBSSD) on 9th July 2026.

On 20.06.2026 (Saturday), the Additional District Magistrate (Skills), Kalimpong, along with the District Nodal Officer (DNO) and District Project Manager (DPM), conducted a visit to the PBSSD Training Centre operated by Like Way Skills Consultancy and Solution Private Limited to review the quality of training being imparted under Utkarsh Bangla. The ADM (Skills) carried out a detailed inspection of all required training centre criteria and infrastructure and made a thorough assessment of compliance and training standards. The team also interacted with trainees to evaluate their learning experience, training outcomes, and overall progress. The visit emphasized maintaining high-quality training and strengthening employability opportunities for the youth of the district.

On 22.06.2026 (Monday), a meeting with representatives of hotels, industries, and tea gardens was held at the Treasury Conference Hall, Kalimpong, under the chairmanship of the Additional District Magistrate (Skills) Kalimpong, in presence of The District Nodal Officer (DNO), Additional District Nodal Officer (ADNO), and District Project Manager (DPM).
Discussions focused on labour requirements, promotion of National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) and National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and various skill development schemes under PBSSD. Emphasis was laid on aligning training with industry needs and creating employment opportunities for local youth through skill development and apprenticeship programs.
