It is located 65 km north-west of Kanya Kumari. Mankad is a Historical place according to the Ramayana. Lord Murugan Temple at the bottom of Thirumalai hills. And revolt was carried on 1945 in Kanya Kumari for the separation of Kanya Kumari from Kerala. in 1948 an struggle was happened in Mankad. in-order to finish the struggle the police made shooting with the strugglers. In the shooting the Leaders DevaSagayam and Chellaya where killed. And this lead to struggle in many place and atlast in 1956 Kanya Kumari was separated from Kerala and joined to Tamil Nadu and November 1st is celebrated by Kanya Kumari people for this. . . . . .
