*Kapurthala, August 15*
In view of the Independence Day celebrations, the Kapurthala Police have made elaborate security arrangements across the district to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of all programmes.
Flag marches were carried out in all sub-divisions as part of the security preparedness, with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Toora leading the march and reviewing the arrangements on the ground.
SSP said that foolproof security arrangements had been put in place across the district for the national celebration. Police personnel have been deployed at important locations, public places and around venues hosting Independence Day functions to maintain a strict vigil and ensure the safety of the people.
SSP said special police teams had been constituted to conduct regular checking and surveillance, while security had been further strengthened to prevent any anti-social or suspicious activity. Round-the-clock vigil was being maintained and other sensitive areas, with multiple patrolling parties deployed to monitor the situation.
The SSP said police officers had also been directed to carry out night-domination exercises and intensified patrolling to keep a close watch on law and order. Checking of vehicles and suspicious persons was being carried out at strategic points, while police teams were maintaining heightened alertness around vital installations and crowded areas. He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately inform the police about any suspicious person, object or activity. He also urged citizens to cooperate with the police and follow security advisories to ensure that the Independence Day celebrations remained safe, peaceful and orderly.
