HSS Silmoo bags 1st Position in Speech Competition on Management and Protection of Biodiversity and 3rd Position in Quiz Competition on Ecology, Environment and Biodiversity organised by Society for Environment and Sustainable Development, New Delhi and All Teacher Welfare Association Sodh Kargil at HSS Yourbaltak.

Distribution of "Yountab" to the students of class 12th at HSS Silmoo
The Yountab is an initiative of Department Of Education, Union Territory of Ladakh to provide free of cost Learning tablets to the students of Govt Schools from class 6th to 12th.
The pandemic has really taken away the teaching and learning time from students. so as to compensate and promote sustainable online learning, the UT administration has taken a really crucial step for the downtrodden and marginalized students.

24-Aug-2021: Young Gandhian, Nitin Sonawane got a warm welcome at Govt Higher Secondary School Silmoo, Kargil.
Nitin who has continuously traveled a lot of countries on foot and cycle in the last five years to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi is travelling in Kargil - Ladakh these days. While his enroute on foot to A***n Valley, HSS Silmoo gave a warm welcome to him.
Mr. Nawang Sharap, Vice Principal and a Gandhian in himself introduced Nitin with the students and staffs and highlighted how they feel happy to recieve him with the message of Non Violence and Kindness.
Nitin in his interaction with students expressed what lead him to take such a journey and his experience in different countries across the world with Gandhian message. The students asked Nitin about the difficulties in the journey, the best countries , expenses in the journey and his future plans.
At last, Principal Phuntsog Dorjay expressed his gratitude for bringing the Gandhian message at the school and for sharing his experiance of different countries. He wished Nitin for his future journey on the path of Gandhian Principles.

An important online staff meeting took place under the leadership of Principal Phuntsog Dorjey to review the progress of online classes, the challenges associated with it and ways of compensating the shortage of teaching staff in some important subjects at both secondary and higher secondary level.
During the meeting, every teaching staff shared thier experiences with online mode of teaching. Mr. Nawang Sharap, Vice Principal and Lecturer in Zoology gave a detail presentation on google classroom and how it can be added for effective teaching and learning apart from the online interactive teaching through Google meet.
Moreover, different ways to bring maximum students in the online classes and sending learning material and assignments to the students of shartsey where there is no network connectivity were also discussed.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks to the chair.

24th April 2021: Last Day of the school
The school is closing from 26th April 2021 for one month due to Covid 19 situation in Ladakh.
Principal Sh Phuntsog Dorjay, briefed the students about the situation and shifting to online classes.
The school will run online classes with proper timetable and regular attendance. There might be some issues with regard to shortage of staff in some subjects , no cellphones with poor students and network less village like shartsey but the administration needs to take a call on this.

Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) was held on 17th April 2021.
The parents were given a tour of the school facilities and classes. The teachers highlighted various achievements of the school and the issues and challenges being faced before the parents.
The old School Management Committee (SMC) was dissolved and new SMC for session 2021 was constituted. The members of old SMC shared their experiences.
The parents welcomed our new Principal with traditional khatags.
Moreover parents shared their views with regard to students and school management and hailed the development and improvements of the school in the last few years.
Dr. Rameez Hassan, Lecturer in Economics who recently got transferred was given a grand farewell..

Important staff meeting took place under the leadership of Sh Phuntsog Dorjay, Principal at his office chamber where major decisions related to academics and extra curricular activities were taken.
