9th to 11th Jan, 2026: On the auspicious occasion of Magh Bihu, the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), under the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of Assam, successfully organised the Asomi Bhogali Mela, 2026 at Karimganj College Field in Sribhumi District. The event celebrated rural entrepreneurship, Assam’s rich cultural heritage, and women-led economic empowerment, showcasing the strength and creativity of rural communities.
The event successfully fostered a vibrant festive ambience through a well-designed array of activities, including traditional sports competitions, indigenous cuisine contests, and engaging cultural performances. The cultural programmes comprising dance, drama, and musical presentations were thematically aligned with women empowerment, women safety, and social awareness. A specially curated fashion show showcased the traditional attire and cultural legacy of the diverse communities of Sribhumi District, while performances by local artists and children added further grace and vibrancy to the celebrations.
The three day Mela concluded with remarkable success, generating total sales of approximately ₹8 lakh, thereby making a direct and tangible contribution to income enhancement among rural households and reinforcing the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs across the district.
