Namma Karla

Namma Karla The town was called Pandya Nagari during the period of Jain rule, and later became known as Karikall Tulu-speaking people call the town Karla.

ಕಾರ್ಕಳ (Karkala) is a town and the headquarters of Karkala taluk in the Udupi district of Karnataka, India. Located about 380 km from Bangalore, it lies near the Western Ghats. The name of the town is derived from kari-kal, meaning black stone in Tulu.Some assert that the original name was 'Kari Kola' meaning 'elephant lake' which is the existing 'Anekere'. Muslims, and Kannadigas call it Karkala,

and the Roman Catholics call it Karkol. Its alternative name, Jain Thirtha, is the result of 300 years of Jain rule. It was called Karkal by the English; later, it was called Karkala in Kannada. Karkala is on the top of a granite bed that is about 300–500 ft thick.

ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಕಾವ್ಯ ನಿಗೂಢ ಸಾವು ಪ್ರಕರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ ತಡೆ ಸಮಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಉಗ್ರಪ್ಪ ಇಂದು ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಕಮೀಷನರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಜೊತೆ ತೆರಳಿದ್ದ ಉಗ್ರಪ್ಪ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಜೊತೆ 1ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸಮಾಲೋಚಿಸಿ ಕಾವ್ಯಾ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಪಡೆದ್ರು, ಬಳಿಕ ಆಳ್ವಾಸ್ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯನ್ನು ತರಾಟೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಅವರು ಕಾವ್ಯಾ ಕೊಠಡಿಗೆ ಸೀರೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಬಂತು? , ಮೃತದೇಹವನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ರವಾನಿಸಿದ್ದು ಯಾರು? ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದಾಗ ಉಗ್ರಪ್ಪನವರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸದೇ ತಬಿಬ್ಬಾಗಿದ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ವಸತಿ ಶಾಲೆ ನಡೆಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಖಾಸಗಿಯವರಿಗೆ ಅನುಮತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಗುಡುಗಿದರು.

ಇನ್ನೆಷ್ಟು ಸಹೋದರಿಯರು ಬಲಿಯಾಗಲಿದೆಯೋ ಈ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ!!!

ಕಾರ್ಕಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 100ಎಕರೆ ಜಮೀನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿರುವ "ಕೋಟಿ-ಚನ್ನಯ್ಯ" ಥೀಮ್ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ನ್ನು ಅಭಿವ್ರದ್ದಿಪಡಿಸುವ ಕುರಿತು ಸಭೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುವ ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ವೀರರಾದ "ಕೋಟಿ-ಚನ್ನಯ್ಯ" ರವರ ಶಿಲಾ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ವಸ್ತುಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯ ಇರುವ ಈ ಥೀಮ್ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಅಭಿವ್ರದ್ದಿಪಡಿಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಸಂಬಂದಪಟ್ಟ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವರದಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಿ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.
