तंबाकू सेवन है जानलेवा, खुद भी बचें और बच्‍चों को भी बचाएं

स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय के तहत इंटरनेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर पॉपुलेशन साइंसेज द्वारा वर्ष 2019 में वैश्विक युवा तंबाकू सर्वेक्षण का चौथा चरण (जीवाईटीएस-4) आयोजित किया गया था। इस सर्वेक्षण के कुछ महत्वपूर्ण परिणाम निकल कर सामने आए थे, जो निम्‍न हैं-
• पिछले एक दशक में स्कूल जाने वाले 13 से 15 वर्ष के बच्चों में तंबाकू सेवन में 42 प्रतिशत की गिरावट आई है।
• 13 से 15 वर्ष की आयु के छात्रों में से करीब प्रत्येक पांच में एक ने अपने जीवन में किसी भी प्रकार के तंबाकू उत्पाद (धूम्रपान, धुआं रहित और किसी भी अन्य रूप) का सेवन किया।
• किसी भी प्रकार के तंबाकू सेवन की मात्रा के मामले में लड़कों की संख्या अधिक थी। लड़कों में तंबाकू सेवन का प्रसार 9.6 प्रतिशत और लड़कियों में 7.4 प्रतिशत था।
• स्कूल जाने वाले बच्चों में तंबाकू सेवन करने वाले अरुणाचल प्रदेश और मिजोरम में सबसे अधिक तथा हिमाचल प्रदेश एवं कर्नाटक में सबसे कम थे।
