What started as a small community effort in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is now helping conserve India's precious native rice heritage across the country.

In the last 6 months, the Rangamalai Organic Farms Community Seed Bank has distributed native paddy seeds to 155 farmers across 17 States and Union Territories, enabling farmers to cultivate, multiply, and conserve traditional rice varieties that are rapidly disappearing from our agricultural landscape.

Traditional Elephant Proof Trenches (EPTs) are failing our farmers and our wildlife. They often trap panicked animals, leading to tragic casualties, and their unreinforced walls collapse during the monsoon, costing the government lakhs in recurring excavation fees.
We need an engineering upgrade.
At Farm2Brand Studio, we’ve designed the Zero-Casualty Ecological Swale & Boundary Defense—a permanent, multi-layered solution. We recently proposed this comprehensive "9-Foot Stack" design to secure a 27-acre farm at the foothills of the Azhakar Hills in Natham, Dindigul.
How it works:
* 🌿 Zero Casualties: A gentle 45-degree slope on the forest side ensures any animal (Gaur/Elephant) that slides in can easily and safely walk back out. No trapped animals. No broken limbs.
* 🧱 Impenetrable Farm Defense: A strict 90-degree vertical cut on the farm side, topped with a 4-foot stone-revetted bund, creates an impossible 9-foot vertical wall.
* 💧 Water Harvesting: The 5-foot trench acts as a continuous contour swale, capturing monsoon runoff to recharge local aquifers.
* 🌱 Native Bio-Fence: We cap the bund with Agave and Thorny Bamboo (Mullu Mungil) to visually block the crops from wildlife and provide a psychological deterrent alongside a 10kV solar line.
This design protects farmer livelihoods, guarantees wildlife safety, and converts a recurring government maintenance expense into a permanent ecological asset.
