Mogral River

Mogral River The river has a length of 34 km of which a distance of 20 km from the sea mouth is tidal. It has a d It has a drainage area of 132 square meters.

Mogral River originates from Kanathur in Karadka reserve forest in Kasaragod. It flows in a north-westerly direction through Bettipadi and Muliyar where it is joined by another stream rising from the northern part of Karadka reserve forest. From Yedhir the river takes a meandering course and flows through fairly flat regions of Madhur and Patla before emptying into the Arabian Sea in Mogral Puthur

after forming a long stretch of back waters about 5 km in length. It gets its name from Mogral, a coastal village on its northern banks.

മൊഗ്രാൽ പുഴയോരത്തെ മാലിന്യ നിക്ഷേപം ;പഞ്ചായത്ത് സി. സി. ടി. വി സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നു.

മൊഗ്രാൽ :മൊഗ്രാൽ പുഴയിലും പുഴയോരത്തും മാലിന്യം വലിച്ചെറിയുന്നവരെ പിടികൂടാൻ കുമ്പള ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്ത് സി. സി. ടി. വി സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നു. 2017-18 വാർഷിക പദ്ധതിയിൽ ഇതിന്നായി ഒരു ലക്ഷം രൂപ നീക്കിവെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.


മൊഗ്രാൽ പുഴയിലെ മാലിന്യ നിക്ഷേപത്തിനെതിരെ രണ്ടു പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനകളും നാട്ടുകാരും പുഴക്ക് നടുവിൽ ഉപവാസമിരുന്നും, പുഴയിൽ ജലയാത്ര നടത്തിയും, മൊഗ്രാൽ പാലത്തിൽ മനുഷ്യ ചങ്ങല തീർത്തും പുതിയ സമര മുറകൾ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച് അധികൃതരെ പ്രധിഷേധമറിയിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ മാലിന്യ നിക്ഷേപത്തിന് ഒരു കുറവുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. പ്രദേശവാസികളുടെ കാവലായിരുന്നു ഒരു പരിധി വരെ മാലിന്യനിക്ഷേപത്തിന്നു തടയിട്ടത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ മൂന്നു മാസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ പുഴയിൽ അറവ് മാലിന്യം നിക്ഷേപിക്കാൻ വന്നവരെ മൊഗ്രാൽ കൊപ്പളം പ്രദേശവാസികൾ കയ്യോടെ പിടികൂടി കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തു വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞ മാലിന്യം തിരിച്ചെടുപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

വൈകിയാണെങ്കിലും കുമ്പള ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്ത് കണ്ണു തുറന്നതിൽ പ്രദേശവാസികൾ സന്തോഷത്തിലാണ്. സി. സി. ടി. വി സ്ഥാപിക്കാനുള്ള പഞ്ചായത്ത് തീരുമാനത്തെയും ഇതിനു മുൻകൈയെടുത്ത പഞ്ചായത്ത് അംഗത്തെയും സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനകളും നാട്ടുകാരും അഭിനന്ദിച്ചു. പദ്ധതി യുദ്ധകാലാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ നടപ്പിലാക്കണമെന്നും ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ 44 നദികളില്‍ മാലിന്യം കുറവുള്ളത് അഞ്ച് നദികളില്‍ മാത്രമാണെന്ന് ജലവിഭവ വികസന വിനിയോഗ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ (സി ഡബ്ല്യു ആര്‍ ഡി എം) റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. ഇതില്‍ മൂന്നെണ്ണം കാസര്‍കോട്ടെ നദികളാണ്. മൊഗ്രാല്‍, ചിത്താരി, ഷിറിയ എന്നിവയാണ് അവ. പാലക്കാട് ഒഴുകുന്ന ഭവാനി, പത്തനംതിട്ടയിലൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്ന പാമ്പാര്‍ എന്നിവയാണ് മറ്റുള്ളവ. അതേസമയം മാലിന്യം കൂടുതലുള്ള നദികള്‍ പെരിയാര്‍, പമ്പ, കല്ലായി, കരമന എന്നിവയാണ്.
