വിശാല കൊച്ചി വികസന അതോറിറ്റി (GCDA)
ഐഎസ്എൽ മത്സരങ്ങൾ ഇക്കുറിയും കൊച്ചിയിൽ
ഫെബ്രുവരി 22 മുതൽ മെയ് വരെ 9 മത്സരങ്ങൾ
കേരളത്തിലെയും പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് കൊച്ചിയിലെയും കാല്പന്തുകളി ആരാധകർക്ക് ആവേശവും സന്തോഷവും പകർന്നുകൊണ്ട്, ഇന്ത്യൻ സൂപ്പർ ലീഗ് (ISL) 2025–26 സീസൺ മത്സരങ്ങൾ ഇക്കുറിയും കലൂർ ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്റു രാജ്യാന്തര സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിൽ നടക്കും. ഫെബ്രുവരി 22 മുതൽ മെയ് മാസം വരെ മൊത്തം 9 മത്സരങ്ങളാണ് കൊച്ചിയിൽ അരങ്ങേറുക.
നിരവധി ആശങ്കകൾക്കും അനിശ്ചിതത്വങ്ങൾക്കും ഒടുവിലാണ് ഇത്തവണ ഐഎസ്എൽ മത്സരങ്ങൾ നടക്കുന്നത്. കോടതി വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളും സ്പോൺസർമാരുടെ അഭാവവും കാരണം സീസൺ വൈകിയാണ് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ സീസണിൽ അഖിലേന്ത്യാ ഫുട്ബോൾ ഫെഡറേഷൻ (AIFF) നേരിട്ടാണ് ഇന്ത്യൻ സൂപ്പർ ലീഗ് (ISL) സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.
മത്സരങ്ങൾ കൊച്ചിയിൽ നടത്തണമെന്ന ആവശ്യം ഉന്നയിച്ച് അഖിലേന്ത്യാ ഫുട്ബോൾ ഫെഡറേഷൻ GCDAയ്ക്ക് ഔദ്യോഗികമായി കത്ത് നൽകിയിരുന്നു. വിഷയത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം കണക്കിലെടുത്ത് GCDA നേതൃത്വം ഈ അഭ്യർത്ഥന അംഗീകരിച്ചു. സ്പോൺസർമാരുടെ കുറവും സീസൺ കാലാവധി കുറഞ്ഞതും അഖിലേന്ത്യാ ഫുട്ബോൾ ഫെഡറേഷൻ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിച്ചിരുന്നു.
ലോകഫുട്ബോൾ ഇതിഹാസം മെസ്സിയും അർജന്റീന ടീമും കൊച്ചിയിലെത്തുമെന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയിൽ സ്റ്റേഡിയം നവീകരിച്ചതിന് ശേഷമുള്ള ആദ്യ മത്സരങ്ങളാണിത്. ഇതിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് പൂർത്തീകരിച്ച പ്രധാന വികസന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ചുവടെ ചേർക്കുന്നു:
പൂർത്തീകരിച്ച പ്രധാന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ
1. ഫീൽഡ് ഓഫ് പ്ലേയിലെ ടർഫ് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര നിലവാരത്തിൽ നവീകരിച്ചു. പിച്ച് മെയിന്റനൻസ് നിലവിൽ GCDA നേരിട്ടാണ് നിർവഹിക്കുന്നത്.
2. സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിന്റെ ലോവർ ടിയറിലെ എല്ലാ ചെയറുകളും മാറ്റി പുതിയ ചെയറുകൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. VIP ഏരിയയിൽ പ്രത്യേകമായി പുതിയ HDPE ചെയറുകളും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
3. സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിലെ 48 ടോയ്ലറ്റ് ബ്ലോക്കുകളിൽ മെഡിക്കൽ റൂം, ഹോം ടീം റൂം, എവേ ടീം റൂം, ഒന്നാം നിലയിലെ VIP ലേഡീസ് ടോയ്ലറ്റ്, രണ്ടാം നിലയിലെ VVIP (Ladies & Gents) ടോയ്ലറ്റ് ബ്ലോക്കുകൾ എന്നിവയിൽ ടൈലിങ്, സാനിറ്ററി ഫിറ്റിങ് പ്രവർത്തികൾ പൂർത്തീകരിച്ചു.
4. റൂം നമ്പർ 4 ന് സമീപമുള്ള ടോയ്ലറ്റിന്റെയും ഒന്നാം നിലയിലെ VIP Gents ടോയ്ലറ്റിന്റെയും നവീകരണ പ്രവർത്തികൾ പൂർണമായി പൂർത്തിയാക്കി.
5. അതിർത്തിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട തർക്കങ്ങളും കോടതി വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, 770 മീറ്റർ നീളത്തിൽ പുറം ചുറ്റുമതിലും 510 മീറ്റർ നീളത്തിൽ ഉൾമതിലുകളും നിർമ്മിച്ചു. ഉൾമതിലുകളുടെ മുകളിൽ 60 സെ.മീ ഉയരത്തിലുള്ള ഗ്രിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
6. സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിലെ ഡ്രൈനേജ് ലൈനുകൾ പൂർണമായും ശുചീകരിച്ചു.
7. പ്രവേശന പാതയ്ക്കരികിലെ മരങ്ങൾക്ക് സംരക്ഷണവും പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്ക് വിശ്രമ സൗകര്യവും ഒരുക്കുന്നതിനായി 35 Tree Guards സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.
8. പാർക്കിങ് ഗ്രൗണ്ടിലെ GSB (Granular Sub-Base) വിരിയിക്കുന്ന പ്രവർത്തികൾ ചില തർക്ക പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ ഒഴികെ പൂർത്തിയായി.
9. JLN മെട്രോ സ്റ്റേഷനു സമീപമുള്ള പ്രധാന പ്രവേശന കവാടത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മാണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി.
10. സ്റ്റേഡിയം കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ എൻട്രൻസ് ലോബിയിൽ പുറംഭാഗം ക്ലാഡിംഗ് സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും ഉൾഭാഗത്ത് പുതിയ ടൈലുകൾ, ഗ്ലാസ് പാനലുകൾ, ഫാൾസ് സീലിംഗുകൾ എന്നിവ ഒരുക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത് നവീകരണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി.
11. സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിന്റെ ഉൾവശം കൂടുതൽ ആകർഷകമാക്കുന്നതിനായി RBC പുതുതായി പെയിന്റ് ചെയ്തു.
12. സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിലെ ഫ്ലഡ് ലൈറ്റ് ടവറുകളുടെ സ്റ്റീൽ ഫ്രെയിമുകളുടെ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണികൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കി.
13. അധിക എർത്തിംഗ് പിറ്റുകൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ച് എർത്തിംഗ് സംവിധാനം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തി.
ഈ എല്ലാ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും പൂർത്തിയായതോടെ, കലൂർ ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്റു രാജ്യാന്തര സ്റ്റേഡിയം ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ഫുട്ബോൾ സ്റ്റേഡിയങ്ങളിലൊന്നായി മാറിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആധുനിക പിച്ച്, മികച്ച അടിസ്ഥാന സൗകര്യങ്ങൾ, അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര നിലവാരമുള്ള സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയോടെ ഏത് വലിയ ദേശീയ–അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ഫുട്ബോൾ മത്സരത്തെയും കൊച്ചിയിലേക്ക് ആകർഷിക്കാൻ നമ്മുടെ സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിന് ഇന്ന് ശേഷിയുണ്ട്.

ISL Matches to be Held in Kochi This Season as Well
Nine Matches from February 22 to May
Bringing excitement and joy to football lovers across Kerala and especially in Kochi, the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025–26 season matches will once again be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor. A total of nine ISL matches will be played in Kochi between February 22 and May 2026.
After several uncertainties and challenges, the ISL season is set to commence with a delay this year due to court cases and the unavailability of sponsors. For the current season, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is directly organising the Indian Super League. In Kochi, Kerala Blasters FC has been entrusted with the responsibility of organising the matches on behalf of AIFF.
AIFF had officially approached the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) requesting that the matches be hosted in Kochi. Recognising the importance of the event, the GCDA leadership accepted the request. The All India Football Federation had pointed out the lack of sponsors and the shortened season.
These will be the first matches at the stadium after the major renovation works undertaken in anticipation of a possible visit by football legend Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team. The major development and upgradation works completed at the stadium are listed below:
Major Works Completed
1. The Field of Play turf has been upgraded to international standards. Pitch maintenance is now being carried out directly by GCDA.
2. All seating in the Lower Tier has been replaced with new chairs. New HDPE chairs have been specially installed in the VIP areas.
3. Tiling and sanitary fitting works have been completed in 48 toilet blocks, including the Medical Room, Home Team Room, Away Team Room, VIP Ladies Toilet (First Floor), and VVIP (Ladies & Gents) Toilet Blocks (Second Floor).
4. Renovation works, including tiling and sanitary fittings, have been completed for the toilet near Room No. 4 and the VIP Gents Toilet on the first floor.
5. Despite boundary-related disputes and court cases, 770 metres of outer compound wall and 510 metres of inner compound wall have been constructed, with a 60 cm-high grill installed on top of the inner wall.
6. All drainage lines within the stadium premises have been completely cleaned.
7. 35 Tree Guards have been installed along the entry road to protect trees and provide seating facilities for the public.
8. GSB (Granular Sub-Base) spreading works in the parking ground have been completed, except in a few disputed areas.
9. Construction of the main entry gate to the international stadium near JLN Metro Station has been completed.
10. The Entrance Lobby of the stadium building has been renovated with exterior cladding, new floor tiles, glass panels, and false ceilings.
11. The interior of the stadium has been enhanced with fresh RBC painting for improved aesthetics.
12. Repair works on the steel frames of the floodlight towers have been completed.
13. The earthing system has been strengthened by installing additional earthing pits.
With the completion of these works, the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor, now stands among the finest football stadiums in India. With a modern playing surface, world-class infrastructure, and upgraded facilities, the stadium is fully equipped to attract and host major national and international football events in the future.
