Are Social Work and Social Service the same? 💭

Most people use “Social Work” and “Social Service” interchangeably, but there’s a vital difference! 💡

🤍 Social Service: Heart-driven, voluntary actions like charity, individual crowdfunding, and immediate crisis assistance. Anyone with empathy can be a part of it!

🧠 Social Work: A specialized, qualified profession rooted in scientific methods, ethics, research, mental health support, and systematic interventions through NGOs and government schemes.
Understanding this distinction helps us approach social development and community assistance more strategically and effectively! ✨

Respect starts with awareness.✨

Here are 3 essential disability awareness tips for respectful and inclusive communication. 👇

1️⃣ Always ask before assisting: Never assume someone needs help. Respect personal autonomy, honor independence, and ask before stepping in.

2️⃣ Talk directly to them: Speak directly to the individual during conversation, rather than talking through a companion, interpreter, or caregiver.

3️⃣ Drop the labels: Promote disability inclusion by focusing on the person first. True social awareness means seeing the individual beyond a diagnosis or label.
Small changes in our everyday interactions help build a truly accessible and inclusive community. Which of these practices do you think more people need to adopt? Share your thoughts..🙌
