A scenario from Surgical Care Unit in a hospital at Kerala. A 46 year old, male patient is shifted from OT after gastric surgery with spinal anesthesia. The RN received the patient and positioned the patient in semi fowlers position. Vital signs checked and recorded. 30 minutes later, BP was reducing and Heart rate was increasing.Doctor was informed and he came immediately to assess the patient. Physican positioned the patient in supine positon with bed flat and the vital signs was back to normal.
What could be the reason for positioning the patient flat on bed?
