The Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development (c-hed) received the prestigious Bhoomi Mithra Award 2026 from the Hon'ble Minister for Fisheries and Social Justice, Government of Kerala, Adv. V.E. Abdul Gafoor, and Aluva MLA Shri. Anwar Sadath at a ceremony held in Aluva. We are incredibly thrilled and honored to share that the Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development (C-HED), has been selected for the prestigious Bhoomimithra Award!

​This esteemed award, instituted in 1997 by the Association of Environmental Protection, Aluva, recognizes individuals and institutions demonstrating an outstanding, long-term commitment to nurturing and protecting our environment.

​The expert jury, unanimously chose c-hed in recognition of our "distinguished and dedicated contributions in the fields of cultural preservation and environmental protection. It celebrates our long-term vision of integrating environmental sustainability and heritage conservation seamlessly with urban planning.

​This milestone follows our previous recognition, having won the Central Government’s HUDCO Award for the year 2019-20.

Kochi's identity is deeply intertwined with its waterways. From being the primary trade routes of yesteryear to the nostalgic memories of clear waters, our canals are the true lifeblood of this city.
​Against this backdrop, the Workshop on Canal Rejuvenation and the Official Book Launch of Nature Based Solution for Waterbody restoration was organized in collaboration with ICLEI South Asia and c-hed.
