Govt. School Diaries: Marking an important milestone in the lives of the students and their academic journey, GHSS Peren conducted its first-ever Student Council election for the posts of School Captain and School Vice Captain.

Prior to the election, aspiring candidates were given the opportunity to file their nominations and deliver speeches promoting the values of leadership and responsibility, while the ballot-casting process instilled democratic values and highlighted the importance of every vote among the students.

The event served as a practical and valuable learning experience for the students, helping them understand the values of voting, representation, fairness, and collective decision-making.

Teachers supervised the process to ensure transparency and discipline throughout the polling process.

To ensure that Lighthouse School Complexes (LSCs) are safe learning and working environments for all individuals involved, especially students, a State-level School Related Gender Based Violence (SRGBV) Committee and LSC-level SRGBV Committees have been established across all districts.

These committees, comprising officers from Social Welfare, Police, student bodies, school heads, and other parallel departments, will serve as the primary structure to ensure that SRGBV is addressed with accountability, consistency, and a survivor-centric approach.

In line with this, a complaint box will be installed in all LSCs, and SRGBV posters will be displayed in all schools. Furthermore, a Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) portal has also been launched and is now active.

This initiative is part of NECTAR’s broader efforts to improve school safety and ensure a secure environment for students.
