PRESS RELEASE

Security Measures Announced for Bye-Election in Nagaland

1. As per the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the bye-election to the 28th Koridang Assembly Constituency under Mokokchung district in Nagaland is scheduled to be held on April 9, 2026, with the counting of votes set for May 4, 2026.

2. The Office of the Chairman, Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG)/ Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB), has issued security instructions in connection with the upcoming bye-election and has emphasized the need for all factions of the NSCN to adhere to the core objective of maintaining peace during the election period.

3. In line with this, a strict directive has been issued banning the carriage of weapons of any kind within Mokokchung district.

4. The ban comes into effect from March 24, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice. The lifting of the ban will be decided after May 4, 2026, based on the prevailing security situation.

5. These instructions apply to all cadres, including holders of special Ceasefire Identity Cards.

6. The authorities have urged all stakeholders and the general public to cooperate fully in ensuring a peaceful and successful conduct of the bye-election.

DGP Nagaland and Nagaland Police is extremely grateful to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Dr. And Dy.CM Shri Y. Patton for contributing Rs 5 lakh each for ANPR-CCTV Cameras being installed.

Special thanks to Madam Phangnon Konyak, Hon’ble MP Rajya Sabha for contributing Rs 20 lakhs for the same too.

Nagaland police had requested the public about the implementation of the
(i) Tenant registration App and
for streamlining the submission and registration of Tenant(s) and Landlords through OTP based verification.
Diligent and Timely registration of ALL TENANTS BY THE LANDLORDS AND TENANTS will aid efforts by the State Government and the enforcement agencies in effective detection of anti-social elements and illegal immigrants and to take preventive measures for the safety of the citizens of the state and well-being of society.
Nagaland Police therefore appeals to all the concerned citizens who are either Landlords or Tenants, to make use of the Tenant Registration App and assist the law enforcement agencies in our efforts to provide for a safer society.
The Tenant Registration App can be downloaded from the Nagaland Police website https://police.nagaland.gov.in. The app will be available on Google Play Store soon.
The house owners can also get the app or .apk file from the police stations.
Your nearest Police Station can be approached for any assistance pertaining to the Tenant Registration App.
Please note that no charges or fees to be paid for registration by anyone for using these apps.

In continuation of this Office Advertisement vide PHQ (B‑I)1/Recruitment/Constables/2023 Dated 30th September 2025, Addendums Dated 7th November 2025 & 22nd November 2025, Notice Dated 10th December 2025 & 17th January 2026, regarding recruitment to 1176 posts of Constables (GD) under the Police Department, in consultation and with the approval of the Government of Nagaland, the Department has decided that the Oral Interview/Viva‑voice will be conducted at the district level across Nagaland. The Dates and Venues and details for the Interview/Viva-voice shall be notified subsequently in due course by the Departmental Recruitment Board through local newspapers and on the Nagaland Police official website and on the recruitment portal.
