THREE-HOUR SIT-IN PROTEST DEMANDING JUSTICE

18/08/2026 Today, several organisations, including Chirang district BONSU ,and Central Committee BONSU led by President Briten Islary , jointly staged a three-hour sit-in protest at Kajalgaon, Chirang, demanding justice for the minor tribal girl who was allegedly subjected to gang r**e. By Three perpetrators , , and

We strongly condemned the heinous incident and demanded a swift and impartial investigation, a Fast Track Court trial, and speedy justice. We also demanded that all applicable provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012 and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 be invoked wherever legally applicable.we also demanded the maximum punishment prescribed by law, including capital punishment for the three Perpetrators.

We also raised our concern over what we call which has been occurring in our BTC region, with many cases allegedly going unreported or unaccounted for. It is high time the government takes this issue seriously and brings stricter laws and stronger preventive measures to protect our girls and prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
We further demanded that the Chirang District Administration and the Assam Government ensure the safety, dignity, privacy, legal assistance, and rehabilitation of the minor survivor and her family.
Three hours of protest, but our demand remains strong and clear: JUSTICE.
