The first crop of the new jute cultivation season (2022-23) is ready in West Bengal. The first jute harvest, however meagre, if offered to the diety on the Rotho Jaatra festival. This crop is traditionally worshipped in most jute mills in the state. The worshipping ceremony is conducted to ensure blessing of the almighty for a good crop throughout the season and a seamless supply of jute for sustenance of the farmers and the factories churning out jute products. This year, the Roth festival was celebrated on Friday, July 01, 2022 and so was the Paat Pujo (jute worship). Here are some glimpses of the Paat Pujo being celebrated in some jute mills in the state.
