Subject: Request for Extension of Application Deadline and Opening of Correction Window

Respected Sir,

We, SFI Presidency University Unit, would like to draw your attention to the difficulties being faced by many students regarding the ongoing application process for UG admission.

A significant number of students have already communicated their problems through official emails. However, many of them have not received any response so far. As a result, several students remain uncertain about the status of their issues and are unable to complete the process smoothly. We would also like to emphasize that many students come from distant districts and regions. While they have an equal right to apply and participate in the examination process, it is not always possible for them to visit the campus regularly to address problems related to the application process. For such students, official email communication remains the primary and often the only accessible channel for contacting the university authorities.

Considering these circumstances, we sincerely request the Examination Department to:
1. Extend the Application deadline to provide sufficient time for all students to complete their applications.
2. Open a correction window so that students can rectify any errors in their submitted forms.
3. Ensure timely responses to student emails and grievances related to the application process.
Such measures would greatly benefit students, especially those residing far from Kolkata, and help ensure that no student is deprived of the opportunity to complete the application process due to technical or administrative difficulties.

We hope the university authorities will consider this request sympathetically and take the necessary steps in the interest of all students.

২৭ শে মে, ২০২৬ দক্ষিণ কলকাতার ৬ তলা বাড়ির ছাদ থেকে পড়ে গিয়ে, আকস্মিক মৃত্যু হয় বিখ্যাত পরিচালক অনীক দত্তর। বাংলার চলচ্চিত্র জগতে তিনি তার কাজের মাধ্যমে সমাজ ও তার নানান বৈশিষ্ট্য সম্পর্কে স্পষ্ট কটাক্ষ ও নিজের বক্তব্য তুলে ধরেছেন বরাবর। শিল্প রচনা ও পরিচালনায় তার কাজের মাধ্যমে তিনি সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে নিজের দৃঢ় মতবাদ সম্পন্ন দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিকে সহজ লভ্য ভাবে উপস্থাপন করেছেন এবং দর্শকের কাছে বিশেষ সুনাম ও জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছেন। তাঁর এই আকস্মিক অকাল মৃত্যুতে আমরা মর্মাহত।

"আমি চিরতরে দূরে চলে যাবো, তবু আমারে দেবো না ভুলিতে।" - এই অমর বাণীর স্রষ্টা কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম কেবল বাংলা সাহিত্যের এক কবি ছিলেন না, তিনি ছিলেন অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে এক জ্বলন্ত আগ্নেয়গিরি, যাঁকে আমরা ‘বিদ্রোহী কবি’ বলে জানি।

১৮৯৯ সালে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বর্ধমানের চুরুলিয়া গ্রামে জন্ম নেওয়া নজরুলের শৈশব কেটেছিল চরম দারিদ্র্য আর কষ্টে, যা তাঁকে খুব কাছ থেকে সাধারণ মানুষের বেঁচে থাকার লড়াই দেখতে শিখিয়েছিল। সংসারে অভাবের কারণে কিশোর বয়স থেকেই তিনি বিভিন্ন জায়গায় কাজ করেন। মসজিদ থেকে লেটোর দল,এমনকি খাবারের দোকানেও কাজ করতে হয়েছে তাঁকে। প্রথম বিশ্বযুদ্ধে যোগদান করে তিনি যুদ্ধের ভয়াবহতা ও মানবতার অপমান প্রত্যক্ষ করেছিলেন। প্রথাগত পুঁথিগত বিদ্যার চেয়ে তিনি জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতাই তাঁর রচনাকে সমৃদ্ধ করেছে বেশি। এই সব অভিজ্ঞতা তাঁর কলমে এমন এক তেজ নিয়ে আসে, যা তৎকালীন ঔপনিবেশিক ব্রিটিশ শাসনের ভিত্তিকে কাঁপিয়ে দিয়েছিল। ‘বিদ্রোহী’ কবিতার সেই কালজয়ী লাইনগুলো "আমি চির-উন্নত শির" কেবল বাংলার নয়, বরং বিশ্বের শোষিত মানুষের কণ্ঠস্বরে পরিণত হয়েছিল।

নজরুল কেবল বিদ্রোহের কবি ছিলেন না; তিনি ছিলেন প্রেম, সাম্য এবং অসাম্প্রদায়িকতার এক অনন্য কারিগর। তাঁর লেখনীতে হিন্দু-মুসলিম ঐক্যের যে সুর ধ্বনিত হয়েছিল, তা আজকের বিভক্ত পৃথিবীতে এক অমূল্য পাথেয়। তিনি ছিলেন বাংলা গজলের জনক এবং শ্যামাসংগীত ও ইসলামী সংগীত এই দুই ভিন্ন ধারার সংগীতে যে অসাধারণ মেলবন্ধন ঘটিয়েছিলেন, তা তাঁর অসাম্প্রদায়িক সত্তার পরিচয় দেয়। তিনি বিশ্বাস করতেন, মানুষ কোনো ধর্মের গণ্ডিতে আবদ্ধ নয়, বরং মানবতার জয়গান গাওয়াই কবির প্রধান ধর্ম।

তাঁর জীবনের শেষভাগ ছিল এক করুণ নীরবতার সাক্ষী, কিন্তু সেই নীরবতাও যেন আমাদের প্রতিদিন মনে করিয়ে দেয় যে, তিনি কত বড় এক শক্তির উৎস ছিলেন। আজকের এই উত্তাল সময়ে দাঁড়িয়ে নজরুলের আদর্শকে স্মরণ করার অর্থ হলো শোষণের বিরুদ্ধে মেরুদণ্ড সোজা করে দাঁড়ানোর সাহস সঞ্চয় করা। কারণ তিনি আমাদের শিখিয়েছেন, অন্যায়ের সামনে মাথা নত করা মানে নিজের মনুষ্যত্বকে বিসর্জন দেওয়া।

"I shall go away forever, yet you will not be able to forget me." Kazi Nazrul Islam was not merely a poet of the Bengali language; he was a raging volcano of resistance, universally revered as the 'Rebel Poet' (Bidrohi Kabi).

Born in 1899 in the village of Churulia, West Bengal, Nazrul’s early life was defined by the harsh lashes of poverty, which granted him an intimate understanding of the common man’s struggle for survival. Eschewing the limitations of formal education, he found his greatest classroom in life itself, notably serving in the British Indian Army during World War I, where he witnessed the harrowing horrors of war and the systematic dehumanization of humanity. This profound experience ignited a fire in his pen that eventually shook the very foundations of British colonial rule in India. The immortal lines of his masterpiece, *Bidrohi* (The Rebel), "My head ever held high"became the anthem not just for Bengal, but for every oppressed soul across the globe yearning for freedom.

Nazrul was not just a poet of rebellion; he was a master architect of love, equality, and secular harmony. The message of unity between religious communities that resonated through his work remains a vital treasure for our fragmented modern world. He is celebrated as the pioneer of Bengali ghazals and his unparalleled ability to bridge the gap between Shyama Sangeet and Islamic devotional music stands as a testament to his deeply secular spirit. He staunchly believed that humanity transcends the narrow boundaries of religion, and that singing the glory of mankind was the poet's highest duty.

While the latter part of his life was marked by a poignant, tragic silence, that very silence serves as a powerful reminder of the monumental force he once was. In these turbulent times, remembering Nazrul’s ideology is essential; it is a call to stand tall against injustice and to never surrender our humanity. He taught us that to bow before tyranny is to sacrifice our own soul.

উনিশ শতকে বাংলার যে নবজাগরণ সারা ভারতবর্ষকে পথ দেখিয়েছিল, তার উজ্জ্বলতম আলোকবর্তিকা রাজা রামমোহন রায়।‌ পরাধীন ভারতবর্ষে যখন ব্রিটিশ শাসন হবে প্রতিষ্ঠা পেয়েছে, যখন ধর্মীয় গোঁড়ামি, কুসংস্কার, সামাজিক বৈষম্যে ডুবে থাকা সমাজে, যখন শিক্ষাও ছিল রক্ষণশীলতার শেকলে বাঁধা, সেই সময়ে দাঁড়িয়ে চিরাচরিত নিয়মে সেই সমাজকে মেনে না নিয়ে যিনি প্রশ্ন করেছিলেন, তিনি রাজা রামমোহন রায়। যে সমাজে ব্রাহ্মণ্যবাদ নারীকে মানুষ হিসেবেই গণ্য করত না, সেখানে প্রথম সতীদাহের মতো পৈশাচিক প্রথার বিরোধিতা করেছিলেন তিনি। সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ রক্ষণশীলদের আক্রমণ সত্ত্বেও আইন করে সতীদাহ প্রথা বন্ধ হয় তাঁরই উদ্যোগে। ধর্মের মধ্যে যে কুসংস্কার আর গোঁড়ামি প্রবেশ করেছিল তার বিপরীতে ব্রাহ্ম সমাজের মাধ্যমে তিনি একেশ্বরবাদ ও নৈতিকতার ভিত্তিতে ধর্মকে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। শাস্ত্রের দোহাই দেওয়া সমাজের মাথাদের বিরুদ্ধে তিনি অস্ত্র হিসেবে ব্যবহার করেন শাস্ত্রকেই। যে সময়ে দেশের বৃহত্তর অংশ ছিল অশিক্ষার অন্ধকার, সেই সময় তিনিই প্রথম ভারতীয়দের জন্য পাশ্চাত্য শিক্ষার প্রয়োজন বুঝে ব্রিটিশ সরকারের কাছে সেই দাবি জানান। সামাজিক সংস্কারের ক্ষেত্রে ব্রিটিশ শাসনযন্ত্রের সাহায্য নিলেও ব্রিটিশ সরকারের দমনমূলক নীতিরও বিরোধিতা করতে তিনি দ্বিধা করেননি। তাঁর যুক্তিবাদ, সহমর্মিতা, সচেতনতা তাঁকে করে তুলেছিল ভারতের প্রথম আধুনিক মানুষ। আজ যখন আবার মানুষকে ধর্মের আফিমে নিজের অধিকার ভুলিয়ে রাখার চেষ্টা হচ্ছে, বারবার প্রশ্নের মুখে পড়ছে নারী স্বাধীনতা, মতপ্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা, তখন আরও একবার আমাদের আলোকবর্তিকা হয়ে উঠতে পারেন রামমোহন রায়। তাঁর এবং বাংলার নবজাগরণের আদর্শকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া আমাদের দায়িত্ব। ভারতের ছাত্র ফেডারেশন প্রেসিডেন্সি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইউনিট রাজা রামমোহন রায়ের জন্মবার্ষিকীতে তাঁকে শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করছে।

Request for Multilingual Question Papers in Presidency University Admission Test 2026-27

This is to bring to your notice that as stated in the information bulletin of Presidency University admission test for 2026-2027 released today, the language of the question paper is set in English only. This will be disadvantageous for aspirants who are not as fluent in english. Furthermore, several pan india exams like NEET,JEE,CUET acknowledge the use of regional languages in the question paper.
SFI Presidency University urges that the upcoming admission tests should be conducted in as many regional languages as possible, acknowledged by the state govt. along with English.

Ho Chí Minh, the well known Marxist was born on 19th May, 1890. Today on his birth anniversary we remember his significant role in the Vietnam revolution followed by him being the first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He was a believer and active practitioner of Marxist and Leninist ideology. He was also a very important entity behind the establishment of the Indochinese Communist Party in 1930 and also led the Workers' Party of Vietnam, later known as the Communist Party of Vietnam. Apart from his role in the Vietnamese Revolution he also worked for many other countries over the seas. He was one of the founding members of the French Communist Party.

While the August revolution against the Vietnamese monarchy and the proclaimed independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam he played a vital role in the leadership. His government initiated the Guerrilla warfare from the countryside from 1946 which led to the First jIndochina War which after severe events regarding the land ended with the defeat of the French by the Viet Minh at the battle of Điện Biên Phủ .

With significant remodeling of Vietnam after the Geneva Conference, he remained the president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam till his last breath.

Ho Chì Minh is thereby an eminent revolutionary character who lived and preached communism on an international level.

দুই বিশ্বযুদ্ধ, ঔপনিবেশিক শাসন, মন্বন্তর ও সামাজিক বৈষম্যে বিধ্বস্ত এক সময়ে বাংলা সাহিত্যের আলোকবর্তিকা হয়ে উঠেছিলেন যাঁরা, তাদের মধ্যে অন্যতম মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তাঁর পৈতৃক বাসস্থান পূর্ববঙ্গে, আর শৈশব কেটেছে পিতার চাকরির সূত্রে বাংলা-বিহার-ওড়িশার বিভিন্ন গ্রামে ঘুরে, তাই বাংলার গ্রামজীবনের প্রেক্ষাপট তাঁর রচনায় ফুটে উঠেছে নিখুঁতভাবে। মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সাহিত্য আক্ষরিক অর্থেই ছিল সমাজের আয়না।বিশ শতকের সমাজ তার সমস্ত সুখ-দুঃখ, আলো-অন্ধকার, এমনকি কদর্যতম কলুষতা, হিংস্রতা, অমানবিকতা নিয়ে হুবহু ফুটে উঠেছে তাঁর রচনায়। মন্বন্তরের জ্বলন্ত দলিল 'ছিনিয়ে খায়নি কেন', 'কে বাঁচায় কে বাঁচে' থেকে বস্ত্র সংকটের মর্মন্তুদ চিত্র 'দুঃশাসনীয়', মধ্যবিত্ত 'ভদ্রসমাজের' বিপন্নতার গল্প 'টিচার' থেকে শোষিত শ্রেণির প্রতিবাদের কাহিনী 'হারানের নাতজামাই' , তাঁর লেখায় বারবার প্রতিফলিত হয়েছে সমসাময়িক সমাজের বাস্তবতার ছবি। মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় আদর্শগতভাবে ছিলেন মার্কসবাদে বিশ্বাসী, তাই শ্রেণী সংগ্রামের চেতনাও উঠে এসেছে তাঁর বহু কাহিনীতে। না, শুধুই নিরাশাবাদে শেষ হয়নি মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সাহিত্য, বরং বারবার ফিরে এসেছে পারিপার্শ্বিক সমস্ত বিপর্যয় কাটিয়ে মানুষের জয়যাত্রার কথা। তাই 'শশী', 'ময়নার মা', 'যোগী ডাকাত'-দের কাহিনী ট্রাজিডিতে শেষ হয় না, হয়ে ওঠে সমাজ পরিস্থিতি আর নিয়তির বিরুদ্ধে মানুষের চিরন্তন জয়যাত্রা, আর সেজন্যই মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় মৃত্যুর সত্তর বছর অতিক্রম করেও আজও প্রাসঙ্গিক। অসামান্য প্রতিভাবান এই সাহিত্যিকের শেষ জীবন অত্যন্ত অর্থকষ্টে কাটে। মাত্র আটচল্লিশ বছরের জীবনকালে বাংলা সাহিত্যে তিনি যে অবদান রেখেছেন এবং ব্যক্তিগত তথা শিল্পী জীবনে যেভাবে মতাদর্শে অবিচল থেকেছেন, তা নিঃসন্দেহে অবিস্মরণীয়। ভারতের ছাত্র ফেডারেশন প্রেসিডেন্সি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইউনিট মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের জন্মদিবসে তাঁকে গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করছে।

রাধানথ সিকদার ছিলেন একজন বিখ্যাত ভারতীয় গণিতবিদ ও জরিপকারী, তিনি ১৮১৩ সালে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন, প্রথমে হেয়ার স্কুল এবং পরবর্তীতে প্রেসিডেন্সি কলেজ থেকে অনার্স পাশ করেন। ব্রিটিশ শাসনা কালে তিনি Great Trigonometrical Survey of India কর্মরত প্রথম ভারতীয়দের মধ্যে অন্যতম ছিলেন। তিনি গণিত ও গণনায় অত্যন্ত দক্ষ ছিলেন।
রাধানথ সিকদার ১৮৫২ সালে 'Mt. Everest' -এর উচ্চতা গণনা করার জন্য সর্বাধিক পরিচিত। গাণিতিক গণনা এবং জরিপের তথ্য ব্যবহার করে তিনি দেখিয়েছিলেন যে 'Peak XV' (পরবর্তীতে মাউন্ট এভারেস্ট নামে পরিচিত) বিশ্বের সর্বোচ্চ পর্বত। ভূগোল ও জরিপ ক্ষেত্রে তাঁর এই কাজটি ছিল এক বিরাট কৃতিত্ব। রাধানথ সিকদার ১৮৭০ সালে মৃত্যুবরণ করলেও, তিনি একজন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভারতীয় বিজ্ঞানী ও গণিতবিদ হিসেবে স্মরণীয় হয়ে থাকবেন, যাঁর কাজ জরিপ ও ভূগোল ক্ষেত্রে ভারতকে আন্তর্জাতিক স্বীকৃতি এনে দিয়েছিল।

আজ‌ তার মৃত্যুদিনে আমরা SFI-Presidency University Unit -এর পক্ষ থেকে শ্রদ্ধা জানাচ্ছি।

Radhanath Sikdar was an eminent Indian mathematician and surveyor, born in 1813. He completed his schooling from the Hare school and graduated his honours course from the Presidency University. Under British rule, he was one of the very first working indians in the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India. He was extremely talented in the fields of mathematics and calculations. In 1852, Radhanath Sikdar measured the height of the Mt. Everest and got highly renowned for his work. Using mathematical calculations and surveys he proved that 'Peak XV' , now known as the Mt. Everest is the highest peak in the world. His work was also highly significant in the spectrum of Geographical surveys. Radhanath Sikdar died in 1870, on today's date but is still remembered as an esteemed scientist and mathematician, which gave India an international significance in the fields of mathematics and geographical surveys.
