Frontier HQ South Bengal

Frontier HQ South Bengal SECURITY OF THE BORDERS of South Bengal and matters connected therewith. Sh P K Basu, IPS, was chosen to lead this newly created Frontier.

On creation of BSF in 1965, Calcutta was chosen as the
Headquarters of Eastern Frontier of BSF to administer &
command the forces deployed all along the Eastern Frontier. The vastness and spread of the eastern border along East
Pakistan and now Bangladesh demanded close supervision. Shillong Frontier was carved out from Eastern Frontier on
3rd june1971. The HQ of Eastern Frontier at Kolkata be

came the
HQ of West Bengal Frontier. The West Bengal Frontier was again
divided into South Bengal and North Bengal FTR on 23rd April 1988.
