Kolkata Gives, comprising of individuals and corporate, is a platform which looks to bridge the gap between the NGOs and people willing to donate. In order to ensure credibi
lity and transparency, the set of criteria includes balance sheet, hunger to grow, sectoral potential and professionalism. The selected NGOs are well disbursed into different field of special requirements such as mental disorder, child trafficking, education, HIV AIDS, among others. To highlight the work being done by the NGOs, the Kolkata Gives team started a tabloid dedicated to the one aspect of philanthropy that is perhaps the most effective and ironically the most overlooked - networking. The team at Kolkata Gives is positioned as aggressive networkers. It is engaged in the ‘business’ of creating appetites; markets and mapping areas that people never knew existed. Kolkata Gives aspires to highlight some of the NGOs that are being driven by remarkable individuals and teams with an established track record in countering challenges and growing the size of their ‘book’. Sadly, few people know about them. Our operating philosophy: information is really the driver of philanthropy (after intent, of course) – not only from a donor- recipient perspective but also from a recipient-recipient perspective when some NGOs selectively equip or fund peer NGOs. At Kolkata Gives, this is what we want to do: create an informed Kolkata touchpoint for philanthropy, widen our circle of coverage, engage with willing donors, facilitate resource transfers and accelerate the growth of our great city from the ground level upwards.
