Jeevan Jyothi Notre Mission vise à améliorer les conditions de vie des enfants handicapés ainsi que des enfants de villages reculés et en particulier les filles.

Who is a Child in need of care and protection?

1. Doesn't have a home or shelter and no means to obtain such an above
2. Resides with a person(s) who has threatened to harm them and is likely to carry out that threat, harmed other children and hence is likely to kill abuse or neglect the child.
3. Is mentally or physically handicapped, or has an illness, terminal or incurable disease and has n

o one to provide and care for him/her.
4. Has a parent or guardian deemed unfit or unable to take care of the child.
5. Is an orphan, has no family to take care of him/her, or is a runaway or missing child whose parents cannot be located after a reasonable search period.
6. Is being or is likely to be sexual, mentally, emotionally or physically abused, tortured or exploited.
7. Are being trafficked or abusing drug substances.
8. Is being abused for unthinkable gains or illegal activities.
9. Is a victim of arm conflict, civil unrest or a natural disaster

We care for 60 Children within these 9 categories.

L’histoire commence par une constatation : en 1998, alors que Edith Stecher se trouvait en Inde en tant que bénévole dans un orphelinat à Mangalore, elle constatât que les quelques enfants handicapés de l’institution étaient délaissés pendant une bonne partie de la journée. Elle s’était prise de sympathie pour ces enfants ‘différents’. Son séjour était trop court pour pouvoir apporter des changements concrets dans cette institution; alors avant de partir pour chercher un autre lieu d’hébergement pour ces enfants très défavorisés, elle promit à l’un des enfants de revenir le chercher dès que possible. Deux ans plus t**d, le 13.11.2000, le premier foyer pour enfants handicapés ouvrit ses portes et en printemps 2001 promesses tenues, Edith partit pour Mangalore chercher ce petit garçon. Elle revint avec cinq enfants handicapés en bas âge.
