Report on Khet Bachao Abhiyan Awareness and Rainy Season Vegetable Cultivation Training held at Perambra on 24.6.2026
On June 24, 2026, ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Calicut, in association with Krishi Bhavan, Perambra, Department of Agriculture, Kozhikode, organised an awareness programme on Khet Bachao Abhiyan and off-campus training on rainy season vegetable cultivation at Perambra. Implemented under the guidance of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the programme aimed to sensitise the farming community to the importance of sustainable soil health management and balanced fertilizer use to prevent soil degradation and ensure long-term agricultural productivity. In addition, recent advances in vegetable crop production technology were emphasized during the sessions.
Dr. P. S. Manoj, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Calicut, delivered the technical sessions on these subjects. Mrs.Anjali Hari, ADA, Perambra and Mr.Nissam Ali, Agricultural Officer, Krishi Bhavan, Perambra also addressed the farmers. The training focused closely on key aspects of soil health management, particularly emphasizing the role of bio-fertilizers and the adoption of scientifically recommended fertilizer application practices. Appropriate crop management strategies for the Kharif season were also discussed in detail. Furthermore, participants learned about the successful technologies demonstrated in the NICRA village and their potential for wider adoption under local farming conditions.
To facilitate the adoption of these improved agricultural technologies, the participating farmers were also briefed on the various subsidy and support schemes available under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. A total of 46 farmers, mobilised by Krishi Bhavan, Perambra, Kozhikode, actively participated in the programme. At the conclusion of the event, essential agricultural inputs, including vegetable seeds and Trichoderma, were distributed to the participants to encourage the immediate adoption of the recommended technologies and practices at the field level.
