Agriculture Department Kulgam Extends Immediate Support to Cloudburst-Affected Farmers at Dardgund
Dardgund, Kulgam, August 10, 2026:
In the aftermath of the recent cloudburst and flash-flood incident at Dardgund, the Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department today extended immediate agricultural assistance to the affected farming community as part of its efforts to support the restoration of livelihoods.
The affected beneficiaries were provided vegetable seeds under the ATMA programme, comprising Radish, Coriander, Spinach, Knol-Khol and Carrot, enabling them to resume vegetable cultivation and undertake short-duration crops despite the losses caused by the natural calamity.
The programme was attended by the District Agriculture Officer, Kulgam; Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Qaimoh; Technical Officer, Sub-Division Qaimoh; and the staff of Agriculture Extension Office (AEO) Kilam, who interacted with the affected beneficiaries and took stock of the agricultural losses and requirements on the ground.
The officers assured the affected farmers of all possible technical guidance and necessary support under available departmental schemes and programmes. The distribution of vegetable seeds is aimed at helping affected farmers restart cultivation at the earliest and mitigate the impact of the crop losses suffered due to the cloudburst.
The Agriculture Department reiterated its commitment to stand with the farming community during difficult times and ensure that timely assistance and benefits under various government programmes reach the deserving beneficiaries.
