On November 24, 2024, the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Tehsil Legal Services Authority Tangdar, organized a legal awareness program focused on gender issues, empowerment of transgenders, and the rights of the third gender at TADD Higher Secondary School, Tangdar
The event was attended by notable figures, including the Judicial Magistrate of Tangdar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Tangdar, the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, the President of the Bar Association, the Procuration Officer, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), female students, staff members, para-legal volunteers, and faculty members of the institution.
Resource person Ms. Shugufta Banday, a Gender Specialist from the sankalp hub for empowerment of women kup delivered an insightful speech that enriched the audience's understanding of gender-related topics. She emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing gender issues, advocating for the empowerment of transgenders, and affirming the rights of the third gender.
As part of the initiative, sports kits, sanitary napkins, and vending machines were provided to the school to encourage female students to participate in sports and maintain personal health and hygiene. Additionally, vending machines were also supplied to the Government Middle School in Chitrakoot, Tangdar.
The program highlighted various women-centric schemes aimed at enhancing gender equality and provided vital information to empower marginalized groups. Through this event, the Department sankalp hub kupwara and the Tehsil Legal Services Authority reaffirmed their commitment to promoting awareness and understanding of gender issues, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of gender identity, have access to their rights and opportunities for empowerment.
