World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Celebrated with Zeal and Enthusiasm.

Kupwara, June 15:- The Senior Citizens Home, Kupwara in collaboration with Social Welfare Department Kupwara and Implementing Agency-JKSWM, witnessed a day of dedication and enthusiasm as it celebrated World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The event was organized under the esteemed leadership of DC kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, IAS, and the diligent supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Kupwara, Mr. Hidaitullah Mir, JKAS.

A significant gathering of senior citizens, including notable Islamic preachers and scholars, marked the occasion. Mr. G. M. Malla, a respected religious scholar holding a PhD in Islamic Studies and serving as Khatibe-Jamia Regipora Kupwara, delivered an inspiring speech on the societal importance of elders. He emphasized the need for respect and care for the elderly, highlighting their valuable contributions and the wisdom they offer to the community.

Dr. Javid Ahmad Beigh, Superintendent, Senior Citizens Home, Kupwara, addressed the assembly, elaborating on the various facilities and services provided free of cost to elders in need. He outlined the Home’s commitment to ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for its residents.

The event also included a refreshment session and an amusement walk, which were well-received by the participants, adding a touch of joy and relaxation to the proceedings. The attendees expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the District Administration and IA JKSWM for their efforts in establishing and maintaining the Senior Citizens Home in Kupwara.
Pertinent, similar events were organised by JKSWM at Senior Citizens Homes in Districts Bandipora, Budgam and Shopian to honour the wisdom and age in collaboration with District Administrations of the concerned districts.

The successful celebration of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the Senior Citizen Homes in Kupwara, Budgam, Shopian and Bandipora have not only brought attention to the critical issue of elder abuse but also underscored the community’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and well-being of its senior members. The event stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the administration, social welfare agencies, and the local community in fostering a society that values and cares for its elders.

Bandipora, September 24:- The District Drug De-Addiction Centre DDAC, Bandipora, J&K took a significant step in raising awareness and showcasing its services during a two-day Book Fair event held on September 21 and 22, 2023. The event, hosted at the International Delhi Public School Bandipora, was an opportunity for DDAC to reach out to a diverse audience and provide valuable information about its mission and offerings.

Representatives of DDAC, Mr. Showkat Ahmad, PC, and Mr. Aamir Sajad, Supervisor, manned the DDAC Stall at the exhibition. Their presence was instrumental in educating visitors about the various facilities and services available at DDAC Bandipora.

The DDAC in the Book Fair garnered attention from notable visitors, including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmed, IAS, JDP Imtiyaz Ahmad, officials from the DC office, students from various educational institutions, local visitors, and teachers from participating schools. These visitors were offered informative materials, such as pamphlets, which highlighted the services provided by DDAC.

Established as a collaboration between the District Administration, Bandipora, and the Social Welfare Department, Kashmir, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, DDAC is a crucial initiative under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) Scheme initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The management of the centre falls under the capable hands of the dedicated organization, J&K Students Welfare Mission.

As stated during the exhibition, the primary objective of DDAC is to offer comprehensive services to individuals battling drug addiction. These services encompass admission and shelter facilities, nutrition support, stress management, awareness campaigns, counselling, stabilization, education, prevention strategies, detoxification, treatment options, rehabilitation programs, and a focus on the complete recovery of individuals. The centre provides both indoor and outdoor patient treatment facilities to cater to varying needs.

DDAC is designed to create a supportive and nurturing environment for patients embarking on their recovery journey. The centre boasts dedicated sections, including administrative facilities, medical blocks, counselling rooms, a detoxification ward, general ward, a well-stocked library, and recreational areas. A team of dedicated professionals, including male and female counsellors, doctors, trained nurses, and medical staff, is committed to delivering quality care to each individual.

Recognizing that recovery is a gradual process requiring patience and determination from both patients and their families, DDAC offers various treatment modalities, including behavioral therapy and withdrawal therapy. The emphasis is on the Whole Person Recovery (WPR) strategy, with the ultimate goal of enabling patients to confidently reintegrate into their families and communities as productive and healthy individuals.

The District Drug De-Addiction Centre in Bandipora stands as a testament to the collective determination to create a healthier and more vibrant community. It is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting individuals on their journey towards recovery and fostering a brighter future for the district.

As part of their outreach efforts, pamphlets were also distributed to visitors, ensuring that valuable information about DDAC's services reaches a broader audience.

*Kupwara, August 21: To honour the invaluable wisdom and experience of senior citizens, the Senior Citizens Home in Kupwara under the able leadership of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms Ayushi Sudan, IAS and under the noble supervision and guidance of District Social Welfare Officer Kupwara, Mr. Hidayatullah Mir, JKAS, marked the occasion of World Senior Citizens Day today with a series of thoughtful and engaging activities aimed at celebrating and honoring the elderly residents. The event encompassed medical checkups, thought-provoking discussions, recreational outings, and recognition of the valuable contributions made by senior citizens.

The festivities began with a series of medical checkups conducted by a team of qualified healthcare professionals. This initiative not only ensured the well-being of the residents but also highlighted the organization's commitment to their health and comfort. The medical checkup session provided a platform for addressing health concerns and disseminating crucial information related to senior citizens' healthcare needs.

**Free Medical Camp Organized by Senior Citizens Home, Kupwara Draws Praise for Successful Implementation**

Kupwara, August 14: - A remarkable Free Medical Camp was successfully organized today at the Senior Citizens Home in Kupwara, drawing a significant gathering. The event was carried out under the aegis of the J&K Students Welfare Mission, acting as the Implementing Agency for SrCH Kupwara in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Kupwara, under the noble supervision of District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and Nodal Officer for SrCH, Mr. Hidayatullah Mir, JKAS under the initiative .

The auspicious event, marked on August 14th, commenced with the gracious inauguration by the President of the Senior Citizen Club Kupwara, Mr. Mohammad Ramzan Beigh. The camp's efficient ex*****on was made possible by the able leadership of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara,Ms Ayushi Sudan, IAS and the meticulous supervision of DSWO Kupwara, Mr. Hidayatullah Mir, JKAS. The Senior Citizens expressed their admiration for the medical camp, highlighting their contentment with the impeccable facilities and services extended to the residents.

Eminent personalities graced the occasion, including Miss Abida War, a renowned social activist from District Kupwara and Chairperson of JKSEWWA. The presence of retired senior officers, including Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Aga, and local Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) from the adjacent area, further added significance to the event.

The camp provided free medical check-ups and dispensed necessary medicines to patients as prescribed by the attending physicians. The medical team, led by Dr. Ghulam Hassan from the Health Department, along with Dr. Bashir Ahmad of SrCH Kupwara and Nurse Rukya Ali, played an active role in ensuring the camp's resounding success.

Dr. Javid Ahmad, Superintendent of Senior Citizens Home Kupwara, and his dedicated team played an instrumental role in orchestrating the event with finesse, creating an environment conducive to the well-being of senior citizens.
