“KUPWARA POLICE APPREHENDED INDIVIDUAL WITH NARCOTICS. FIR REGISTERED “

Kupwara,May 2026: During Naka checking near Fire Service Station Kalaroos, a person who was coming from Kalaroos Market towards Thayan was intercepted and apprehended by the naka party. During his search, brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.Upon verification, the accused was identified as Gulfaraz Ahmad Bhat alias Akash, son of Gh. Mohd Bhat, aged about 32 years, resident of Rangerpora Kalaroos.In this regard, cognizance has been taken under relevant provisions of law and further investigation has been set into motion.

KUPWARA POLICE ATTACHES TWO (02) RESIDENTIAL HOUSES IN DRUG PEDDLING CASES AT AMROOHIE TAAD KARNAH.

Kupwara, 22-05-2026 : Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and related criminal activities, Kupwara Police today attached 02 Residential Houses belonging to Zaheer Ahmad Tunch S/O Alim Din Tunch R/O Amroohie Karnah and Bashir Ahmad Tunch S/O Suliman Tunch R/O Amroohie Karnah under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.The accused persons are involved in FIR No. 17/2023 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act.During the course of investigation, the said Residential Houses were identified as proceeds derived from illegal drug peddling activities. Acting on the directions of the competent authority and after completion of all legal formalities, the Residential Houses situated at Amroohie Karnah under Survey Nos. 146 Min and 1361/295 Min were officially attached by Kupwara Police.
The Public notices were also affixed at these sites, informing the General Public that the properties have been attached and that no sale, transfer, lease, or creation of any third-party interest shall be made in respect of the said properties without prior permission from the competent authority.
This action reflects the firm commitment of District Police Kupwara towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and taking stringent legal action against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking and other unlawful activities.

“KUPWARA POLICE ATTACHES 04 KANALS AND 08 MARLAS OF LAND IN DRUG PEDDLING CASE AT TEETWAL, KARNAH.”

Kupwara, 19/05/2026: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and related criminal activities, Kupwara Police today attached 04 Kanals and 08 Marlas of land belonging to Gh. Mustafa Mughal S/O Late Mohammad Abdullah Mughal R/O Seemari, Karnah under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.The accused person is involved in FIR No. 56/2023 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act, 7/25 I.A. Act, and 13, 18, 23, 39 ULA(P) Act of Police Station Karnah.
During the course of investigation, the said property was identified as proceeds derived from illegal drug peddling activities. Acting on the directions of the competent authority and after completion of all legal formalities, the land situated at Dringla Teetwal under Survey Nos. 491 and 492-min was officially attached by Kupwara Police.
A public notice was also affixed at the site, informing the general public that no sale, transfer, lease, or creation of any third-party interest shall be made in respect of the said property without prior permission from the competent authority.
This action reflects the firm commitment of District Police Kupwara towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and taking stringent legal action against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking and other unlawful activities.

Kupwara Police Arrest Drug Peddler; Contraband Substance Recovered

KUPWARA ,MAY/2026 ,Police party of PS Lalpora during naka checking at Rednagh Crossing apprehended one person roaming under suspicious circumstances, identified as Mohd Shafi Bhat S/O Gh Mohd Bhat R/O Dever Lolab.
During his search, charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.In this regard, Case FIR No. 25/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Lalpora and investigation has been taken up.

Kupwara Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers; Contraband Recovered

KUPWARA ,17/05/2026, a police party of PS Sogam during naka checking at Wavoora Crossing intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK09C-9728 coming from Kupwara towards Lolab. During search, charas-like substance was recovered from the possession of two persons identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir R/O Badibera and Faisal Ahmad Khan R/O Maidanpora. Both were arrested on the spot and the motorcycle was seized.
During further investigation, another accused namely Faizan Ahmad Mir R/O Nawa Bazar Khumriyal was arrested. A subsequent search conducted in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class Kupwara led to the recovery of charas-like substance from his shop at Nawa Bazar Khumriyal.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 22/2026 under Sections 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Sogam and investigation is in progress.

Kupwara Police Destroy Illicit Poppy Cultivation in Hatmulla Area; Case Registered

KUPWARA, MAY 2026, Acting on specific information, a police party of PP Hatmulla conducted a raid at Satwatoo, Gushi, within the jurisdiction of PP Hatmulla, regarding illegal cultivation of poppy plants by one person namely Riyaz Ahmad Bhat S/O Gh Mohi-ud-Din R/O Gushi.

During the raid, about 5 kilograms (wet weight) of cultivated poppy plants were seized from the kitchen garden of the accused, while approximately 32 kilograms of poppy cultivation were destroyed on the spot as per legal procedure.In this regard, Case FIR No. 137/2026 under Section 8/18 NDPS Act stands registered and investigation has been taken up.

“Kupwara Police Arrest Drug Peddler During CASO in Karnah; 400 Grams of Brown Sugar like substance Recovered”

Kupwara , 15 May 2026: Today, Kupwara Police along with security forces launched a CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) at Qureshi Mohallah Taad in the jurisdiction of Police Station Karnah. During the operation, thorough checking of residential houses and pedestrians was carried out.During the checking, one suspicious person, on noticing the search party, attempted to flee from the spot. However, the alert search party tactfully apprehended him.During preliminary questioning, the individual disclosed his identity as Mukhtar Ahmad Qureshi S/o Ghulam Rasool Qureshi R/o Qureshi Mohallah Taad.Upon conducting his search, a brown sugar-like substance weighing approximately 400 grams was recovered from his possession.Accordingly, a case FIR No. 29/2026 under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Karnah, and further investigation has been taken up.

“KUPWARA POLICE ATTACHED RESIDENTIAL HOUSE IN DRUG PEDDLING CASE AT TREHGAM “
Kupwara, [14/05/26]: Continuing its firm action against drug trafficking and related crimes, Police Station Trehgam today attached a residential house belonging to Yawar Nazir Bhat S/O Nazir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Poshpora, Kunan, under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The property has been identified as proceeds linked with illegal drug peddling activities. Acting on the directions of competent authority and after completion of legal formalities, the residential house situated at Poshpora, Kunan under Survey No. 843-min was officially attached by Kupwara Police. A public notice was also affixed at the site, informing the general public that the property has been seized and that no sale, transfer, or third-party interest shall be created in respect of the said property.

District Police Kupwara is committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking.

“Kupwara Police Apprehend Suspect with Narcotics; FIR Registered”

May 2026: Kupwara Police established a naka at TCP Bridge with PS Kralpora Nafri for checking of vehicles and suspicious movement in the area.
During naka checking, one truck bearing registration No. JK05J-5311, coming from Kralpora towards Chowkibal was intercepted for checking. The vehicle was being driven by Abdul Majeed Mir S/o Mohd Akbar Mir R/o Salkoot, Kupwara.
During the course of checking heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody and the vehicle involved in the commission of offence was also seized on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 27/2026 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned Police Station and investigation has been set into motion
