The National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) was incorporated on 30th September 1994, as a company not for profit, under Section 25 of the Companies Act 1956 (now Section-8 of Companies Act,2013). It is a National Level Apex Body for the benefit of Minorities as defined under the National Commission for Minorities Act 1992. The prime mandate of NMDFC is to provide concessiona

l finance to the Minorities for self employment/ income generation activities. As per the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, the notified Minorities are Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists & Parsis. Subsequently, Jain community was also added into the list of notified Minority Communities in January 2014.

A review of progress in “Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI)” within NMDFC’s systems and functioning was made by Dr. Abha Rani Singh, CMD, NMDFC on 30th June, 2026. The team of AI professionals from KPMG India , has been engaged through for revamping the NMDFC website & MILAN portal, and creating interactive dashboard, AI-assisted workflows, Multilingual support etc. aimed at strengthening institutional efficiency, transparency, and digital service delivery. This would also facilitate simplification of loan application and processing systems through multilingual accessibility to cater to a diverse spectrum of stakeholders.

: NMDFC, under the leadership of Dr Abha Rani Singh, CMD, NMDFC, signed a General Loan Agreement with Jain Minority Financial Development Corporation (JMDFC), Maharashtra, in the august presence of Sh. Lalit Gandhi, Chairman, JMDFC, at NMDFC Headquarters on 29 June 2026.

The agreement marks a significant step towards strengthening financial inclusion and enhancing the outreach of NMDFC schemes among Jain community in Maharashtra, enabling greater access to credit, entrepreneurship opportunities, educational support, and sustainable livelihoods.
