Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities(Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (Divyangjan), New Delhi and became operational from November-2005. The centre has been providing comprehensive rehabilitation services like Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetic and Orthotic services, Speech Therapy, Psychological services, and Special Education for the mentally re****ed, visually impaired, and the hearing impaired, besides providing mobility aids, hearing aids, skill training, vocational guidance & counselling to persons with disabilities in and around the city. The institute also conducts out-reach Camp services to the persons with disabilities in various districts of Uttar Pradesh state. The institute also conducts Diploma in Special Education – Visual Impairment and Mental Retardation courses of 2 years duration .
