Zari Zardozi Workshop at UPIDR

The Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design & Research (UPIDR) successfully conducted an enriching Zari Zardozi Workshop on 19 August 2026, providing students with an opportunity to explore the intricate beauty of one of India’s most celebrated traditional embroidery techniques.

The workshop introduced students to the fundamentals of Zari and Zardozi embroidery, including traditional motifs, materials, tools, surface ornamentation techniques, and the detailed craftsmanship involved in creating richly embellished textiles.

Through hands-on learning and creative experimentation, students experienced the meticulous process of transforming fabric into exquisite embroidered surfaces. The workshop beautifully connected traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary design perspectives, encouraging students to appreciate, preserve, and reinterpret India’s rich textile heritage.

This session aims to provide students with hands-on insights into the intricate techniques, historical relevance, and modern applications of Zari Zardozi work.

Today, UPIDR hosted an engaging, fun and deeply insightful WGSN Trend Forecasting Workshop for students across all UG and Diploma batches, led by Mr. Prashant Shrivastava, WGSN Expert and Global Trends Specialist.

The session explored region-wise global trends, consumer insights, Big Ideas, Macro trends, STEPIC forecasts, Key items and Core items - fashion intelligence, and future-focused design thinking, including Pantone and Coloro colour forecasts across all seasons and market & product categories - empowering our young designers, creatives, and fashion entrepreneurs to look beyond the present and design for the future.
