Prizes
The following prizes were given by the Commissioner of Police Tr. Davidson Devasirvatham on 9th February 2019 at Conference Hall, CPO, Alagar Koil road to the following winners of various competitions held in connection with the 30th National Road Safety Week celebrations.
Road safety essay competition was conducted on 7th and 8th February 2019. This competition was divided into two categories, Category I constituted students of 6th to 8th std and category II constituted students from 9th to 12th std. A total of 677 students from 19 schools participated in the competition. The competition, at the first stage was conducted in the respective schools and best five essays of each school was selected. These essays were evaluated by Dr.S Balakrishnan of American College and three each were selected from both categories for prizes. In category I, M. Kanya Bharathi of 7th standard of Nehru Vidhyalaya High School won the first prize of Rs.2500 and certificate, P. Jebi of 7th standard of S B O A High school won second prize of Rs. 1500 & certificate, S Swathy 8th standard of Masathiyar Corporation High School won third prize of Rs. 1000 & certificate.
In category II, K N Snegha Sree, 12th standard, of Sourastra Girls High school won the first prize of Rs 2500 & certificate, P Gayathri, 9th standard of Navalar Somadundara Bharathiyar Girls High School won second prize of Rs. 1500 & certificate, P. Shifa, 11th standard, of St. Joseph Matric High school won third prize of Rs.1000 & certificate.
Madurai City Police Rolling Trophy for Road Safety was given to Good Shepherd Matriculation High School , Kanagavel Colony, Madurai, where a total of 193 students participated in the essay competition.
Quiz competition was held on 8th February 2019, in the conference hall, at the commissioner of police office. Quiz master was Dr D Sundarnathan, Funda Factory, (Madurai quiz society). Totally 22 teams (each comprising of 2 students) from various schools participated. A preliminary round was conducted in which 6 teams were selected for the final rounds. A.Sathish Karthick & S.S. Naveen Rajan of Mahathma School Baba building won the first prize and were awarded with cash prize of Rs. 5000 and certificates. The second prize was won by T. G. Ashwin Kumar & P.K. Jagajeet Puttaa of Mahatma School, K.K. Nagar and were given a cash prize of Rs. 3000 and certificates. The third prize was won by O. Rufus Jones & K.S. Harish Karthick of S B O A CBSE and were awarded with a cash prize of Rs.2000 and certificates. Consolation prizes, cash awards of Rs.1000 and certificates were awarded to the remaining three teams who passed the preliminary round of Quiz. They are N.M.Arun Karthick & Kausick Kumar Of Nehru Vidhyalaya High School, B.B. Vikas & S.Kannan Of Mahatma Global Gate Way School, and Sree Lakshmaan Pandian & Gokul Raj Of Mahatma, Alagar Kovil.
Appreciation to Volunteers for Road Safety Awareness
Boys clubs:-The 21 members of Anna Nagar Boys and Girls club who were helping the City Police to create awareness during the last two months were appreciated with certificates and wrist watches.
Traffic wardens:- The traffic wardens along with some volunteers conducted awareness programs in disguise of yemadharmaraja. Mr. T Thavamani and his team under the leadership of Chief Traffic Warden Tr Balakrishnan were appreciated with certificates.
Mannin mainthan team:- Mohamed Sariff Of Manin Mainthan Koothupatrai conducted awareness programs and also created awareness videos. He was also facilitated with certificate.
Commissioner of Police congratulated all the winners and thanked all the schools for their participation. He urged students to carry forward the message of safety on roads.
