Driving Smarter Highways with Digital Technology! 🛣️📱

NHAI conducted a capacity-building programme for field staff on digital monitoring of National Highways, inaugurated by Regional Officer Shri Pankaj Asati.

Senior officials from PIUs under the Chennai Regional Office participated both online and in person—strengthening technology-driven highway management for safer, smoother journeys.

A 44-km stretch of the Chennai–Tirupati National Highway (NH-716) is set to be constructed using Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) technology. 60% reclaimed asphalt will be used in the main carriageway of a National Highway.

A dedicated ₹15-crore RAP plant has been established near Tiruttani, where used asphalt is milled, processed and mixed with new aggregates for reuse.

By recycling existing road materials, RAP helps reduce construction costs, conserve natural resources and keep away milled asphalt from landfills.

NHAI is driving sustainable highway development by recycling, reusing and reducing its carbon footprint.

Giving nature back its space to mitigate pollution, sustains crucial bee populations, & a scenic, nature-lined commute for highway users.
