There was Puja.
There was dance, songs, music, games-spoon n lemon race and musical chairs, treasure hunt, dumb charades, ramp walk etc.
Felicitating elders.
Then there is sumptuous food.
A memorabilia for the special occasion was given to everyone.
Two days of fun and frolic. Every one enjoyed and and decided to have it once a year on a convenient date.

Had very fruitful and successful meetings with Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to PM, Secretary Tribal Affairs, Home Secretary and DG Forest about the adverse impact of recent Supreme Court decision on PILs filed against implementation of Forest Rights Act 2006.
It has been agreed to issue directions to the State Governments to take up the initiative to resolve the issue with out loos of time.
Respective State Governments should take initiative to review the pending and rejected cases as per the provisions of the FRA. Grama Sabhas should de novo take up the cases, then the Sub-Division Committee and the District level Committee strictly following the provisions contained in the Act and the Rules made there of.
Local public Representatives and NGOs should get involved so that no genuine case is left out or denied the benefit.
This has to be done on top priority basis. Time is running out. It has to be done before the end of June 2019.

Request the people concerned with the development and welfare of Tribals to actively get involved at the field level.
If you find any roadblocks please contact me on 9910018966

Hope for the best.

Tribals and other Forest dwellers are under threat
——————————-——————————-

Two recent developments, if not properly addressed, are likely to decimate the tribals across the country.

1. Supreme Court’s recent decision, on PIL against implementation of Forest Rights Act 2006, to evict about 14 lakh Tribal families form 17 states of the country and 83000 families from Telangana, whose applications for settlement of forest land were rejected by the system.

2. Proposed amendment of Indian Forest Act for incorporating adverse provisions. Likely to sn**ch the interests of the Tribal families and handing over the Forest rights to the corporates. Also to virtually to nullify the relevance of Grama Sabhas.

Immediately we all shall take up the fall out of the recent Supreme Court decision for evicting nearly 14 lakh Tribal families, who’s cases were rejected for getting Pattas under Forest Rights Act 2006, from the Forest and also to fight against the adverse provisions being added in the Indian Forest Act.

I have had meetings with our friends from Odisha and also with Home Secretary, Government of India.

I am seeking appointments with the President of India, Telangana Governor, Cabinet Secretary Government of India, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Tribal Affaires Secretary Government of India and Secretary Forest & Environment to convey our concern at these developments and seek their help.

I would like to invite intellectuals, public Representatives, other interested persons and civil society to lend support in our fight to protect the interests of the Tribals.
