ABVIMAS PAYS TRIBUTE • The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) expresses its heartfelt condolences on the tragic demise of Nirmal “Nims Dai” Purja, MBE, and his fellow mountaineers during the recent Broad Peak expedition.

Nims Dai redefined the limits of modern mountaineering through his extraordinary achievements, fearless leadership, and unwavering commitment to the mountains. His courage, humility, and dedication inspired countless climbers across the world and left an enduring legacy for the global mountaineering community.

The entire ABVIMAS family pays its respectful tribute to these brave souls and extends its deepest condolences to their families, friends, and fellow mountaineers.

May their souls rest in eternal peace. Their legacy will continue to inspire generations of climbers.

Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC-382) was conducted by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, from 1–26 July. Out of 128 registered participants, 124 successfully completed the course.
For the first time, the Basic Mountaineering Course included Snow Craft and Ice Craft training in the Baralacha Pass–Zingzing Bar area of Lahaul, providing trainees with a strong foundation for the Advanced Mountaineering Course, high-altitude trekking, and future mountaineering expeditions.
